Summary: Everything was delicious, great beer selection, and amazing hospitality.
The first night (we went there twice it was so good) chef Luca asked us what we wanted or if he should just bring food out. After finding out we were ravenous he brought out every appetizer. They were all amazing. The buffala mozzarella was delicious, the bread was perfect, the hummus devine, the charcuterie delectable, the roasted vegetables delightful, and the fried pizza encountered an encore and was just as tasty the second time. He was super conscientious of vegetarian and pregnancy needs as well. The eggplant parmigana was probably my favorite. The menu is on a two day rotation, so if it isn't available I'm sure he'll have something equally delicious. Next we had the pasta. I don't remember exactly what was in it, but it was amazing and the noodles were hand made. The last dish was the meatballs. They too were amazing. Only thing I didn't like the entire night was the olive appetizer. I detest olives, but everything else was so good I decided to give it a try.
They were closed Sunday, so we came back on Monday. The fried pizza was gone, but replaced with these delicious potato croquettes. We ordered two rounds of those in addition to the rest of the appetizers. The pasta was tomato based and equally delicious. The Italian sausage was very good, though the sauce it was served in was the real treat. We were celebrating a friend's birthday that night and Luca brought out a home made ricotta pear ice cream with little biscuits. It too was amazing and a great way to cap the meal.
The owner happens to also be a beer Somalier. I didn't know that was a thing, but I'm so glad it is. This was the best beer selection I've found in a restaurant, period. My favorite was a Napoleon coffee stout.
Everyone was so friendly and hospitable. If you're in Munich, come here. If you're not in Munich, come to Munich...
Read moreExcellent Italian food! We were new in the city and looking for a restaurant in that street because it was nearby our hotel. We weren´t sure if this place was opened and it looked a little bit small but since the beginning it all was an extremely good experience. The staff and chef are very friendly and are always willing to recommend you some local German beers or Italian refreshments, as well as the menu that they have available that day. We have been in many Italian restaurants in Spain and England but they are too different to the real restaurants that you can find in Italy. So we can confirm that Ambar Bistro food is exactly the same that you can find in Italy but in Munich and in a very pleasant atmosphere. Desserts are also homemade and 100% recommended!! German, English and Spanish is spoken so you have no excuses for...
Read moreItalian bistro but with a German twist. The place is super cosy, and we felt right at home. They serve crafted beers and also have an interesting choice of wines. The food we ordered was really lovely (we got meatballs, humus&paprika, fish and my favorite dish, the cabbage. The tables are small and you’re squeezed in next to the other tables but actually it was not unpleasant, just really cosy. Expect some noise, so it’s great if you want to have a chill happy hour/dinner but not the right place if you’re looking for a quiet spots or if you’re...
