tl;dr: more like 3.5 stars because of something that may or may not have been a one time thing
If you're planning on showing up here anywhere after half an hour after opening time, make a reservation. The place gets packed.
I came for breakfast, so I can't speak to the other offerings, as I didn't even look at them. They have some interesting breakfast options though, either in the form of combos or individual items you can order. I went for the Bergsteiger breakfast because eggs and bacon. It was a good choice. Bacon was crrrrrrispy, but one of the three eggs was a bit overcooked. The little sauce went well with the potatoes.
I also got some coffee, which was strong as I like it, and fresh orange juice, which seemed indeed fresh. For my sweet fix, some raspberry cheesecake, which was creamy and light. Bottom crust wasn't crunchy going towards the middle of the slice, but was nearing the borders. Odd.
Now, I had somewhere to be and wanted to pay my bill and leave. Unfortunately it took them over 20 minutes to bring me my bill, and I had to ask different servers for it. Might have been a one time thing because they were packed (although I suspect they are often packed and they weren't understaffed at all). Other than that, service was good. Prices seem fair in my opinion, neither cheap nor expensive. Good value...
Read moreCosy place with lots of room inside. The decoration is welcoming, like as if you are entering someone's home. Service is friendly and attentive. Special mention that we got served immediately with (tap) water with mint and lemon which is rare in Germany (but usual in Paris for example) and got candle light up. Went there for a Saturday brunch: I appreciated the variety offered on the menu, not that mainstream, very reasonable price. Special mention to Amate coffee served, it is delicious, not bitter like you would find typically in Munich...I ordered Shakshukah with warm pita bread with feta cheese included. I saw on other places they extra charge feta cheese...Will definitely come back. A gem in Giesing. Also no hipsters there...
Alles in...
