Very cozy steak house chain. I’ve been here many times - the food is amazing and the staff is kind. It’s usually very full though so I suggest making a reservation beforehand. You can make reservations via phone or directly over the internet (yay!). In case you see that the restaurant is already booked out at a specific time on their website, I would still go ahead and call the restaurant directly. Most of the time they can find a table for you. I recommend rumpsteak with classic baked potato, garlic bread and sour creme. They also serve lovely desserts, such as chocolate lava cakes. Price-wise you will pay around 20-30€ for rumpsteak (depends on the size), which is alright!

Poor steakhouse. Unfriendly service for foreigners : the manager shifted tone when I spoke English and ask me to sit at the bar while the restaurant had plenty of seating tables).. And clearly as you can see from the picture, they don't clean very often with stained napkins on the floor... I asked for rare meat in my burger and was shocked to hear the waitress they don't do "rare" and said I had to order the expensive filet to have it cooked at my liking. Result: Meat was overcooked, no buns nor anything in the burger, just a piece of greasy bread next to a shoe sole. And I ask for fried vegetables which came sinking in cheap oil. Burger is nothing but a burger. Don't go!

I dined at Block House with two friends on 26th September 2024 after a day of sightseeing, expecting a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, the service was shockingly poor from the moment we walked in. The waiter merely waved us to a table without a word, setting a lacklustre tone.

Our waitress appeared annoyed when she realised we spoke English, rudely snatching our menus and replacing them with English versions. She immediately pressed us for drink orders, even though we hadn’t had a chance to look at the menu, and her impatience was palpable.

Things took a turn for the worse when one of my friends asked about the salad. Instead of providing a straightforward answer, the waitress dismissively told him that it was her responsibility to prepare the food, which was completely uncalled for.

Despite this rude service, we decided to stay and hope for a better experience. Sadly, the food was also disappointing. My ribeye steak was served raw inside, even though I had ordered it medium rare, the marbling was scarce and the cut was full of tendons. The salad was decent, but it felt overshadowed by the unpleasantness of the service.

Dessert offered a glimmer of hope with a delicious apfelstrudel, but even that was tainted. My Bailey's Irish Cream came with unwanted ice cubes, diluting the drink without my request. By this point, we just wanted to pay and leave.

When the waitress asked if we wanted the bill split, her eye-rolling response to our request for separate bills only confirmed how unwelcome we felt.

Overall, the service at Block House was reminiscent of Fawlty Towers. I left feeling like we were unwanted guests.

I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience—there are far better...

I dine at the restaurant for over a decade (ca. once a month). Given the time and experience with the restaurant, I can refer to my visit, today, as a disaster.

As a welcome, be prepared to get judged and treated by your looks alone, and if thought to be a tourist await cheap and primitive "oriental bazaar"-like extortion attempts along the lines of "this is included in the price" (when it never was, and is not), rather off putting practice. I was served by an inexperienced, somewhat arrogant young waiter, shouting his responses / information to me, putting table items onto my hands / pushing my hands off the table, with absolutely no capability to understand and communicate in English: Unable to answer a question "what's your biggest steak?" When ordered a steak without potatoe or bread (as sides), got both served with the meat and was met by their "expressed surprise attitude" when reminded them my actual order. Ordered green tea, got served an herbal infusion instead. When requested a green tea again, got "only one" as an answer and information about their tea selection. After a while, it turned out they also have a black tea. Their knives (steak knives) are completely blunt. You can run them against your skin without any risk of a single scratch (did that). Good luck trying to focus on a conversation instead of the struggle to cut the meat. When asked for a sharper knife, got "only one" as an answer.

Their terrible service was, to certain extent, remmedied by a decent...

We have to admit, that we visited on a very busy Sunday, but what we experienced was not what we are used to. We came and ordered our food from a waitress that we thought was in charge for us. She brought us our starters and then was not to be seen again. We waited for over an hour when she came back and realized that she had not told the kitchen to prepare our main courses. We received the main courses after literally (this is no exaggeration) 1 hour and 20 minutes of already being in the restaurant. When the food came it was no were near our cooking request. We all love meat that is more to the rare/medium rare side. They came more well done also our side dishes were not served but showed up on our bill when we wanted to pay. When we spoke to the waiter about the situation we got a small "I am sorry" before he left our table again. Mistakes can happen that's not the issue, but own the mistakes and try to make the customer feel that you care. We were asked if we wanted Espresso on the house for the inconvenience and we declined as it was already late. At the end we were invited for one dessert in the middle to share which was a...
