One of the worst Indian restaurants I've ever been to. Tasteless food, bad service. I would request anyone not to go here at all. I think they treat Indian customers differently as compared to non-Indians. This place serves the worst tandoori chicken I've ever seen - it was similar to the one you get in supermarkets, not marinated at all and was completely tasteless. The meat was stuck to the bone. Moreover, it was showered with extra virgin olive oil, which just does not go with Tandoori chicken. We also ordered chicken Biryani, expecting it to be atleast normal. But were disappointed again, as the rice was completely drenched in oil, no marination on the chicken and just bland and tasteless. The oil just stuck to the inside of my throat and I had to mix in some plain rice to make it palatable. The worst of it all was the tea. It is very difficult to screw up indian tea. On top of that, when asked for a cup without sugar, we were given the reason that the tea is made once an hour and they cannot make one fresh. This is simply unacceptable. To add to the experience, the tea turned out to be the most horrible I've ever had in any Indian restaurant. Too sweet, too stale and boiled over and over again, with a slight oily coating on the top. The butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and rice were passable, again a bit too oily. Only the plating seems to be good.

What a find! True authentic desi taste, it’s rare to find in Germany. Yes we know how indian foods suppose to taste because we have quite a few indian friends from both southern and northern parts of India. Unlike in some other places they don’t use food colouring, the colour of the curries comes from the spices they use. You can actually taste the spices and it’s not bland or westernized as in some other places. The naan bread was very tasty and also generously spread with ghee in true Indian style, we really don’t want to count calories here, do we? Besides traditional dishes they have a few fusion dishes too, like the paneer bowl and the avocado mango salad, which we also enjoyed very much. For us it is the best indian restaurant in Munich until now (we ate in maybe 15 others, so we can compare). Will definitely be back!

Being Indian, I was surprised by the authenticity, taste, and quality of food served here. The restaurant had plenty of seating, the staff were quite polite, and hygiene was top-notch. Their portion size was ample for two, and the taste was top-notch. Their dal soup was amongst the best I've had, and the naans were delicious. I would love to visit them again. Overall a must recommend for anyone craving Indian food in Munich.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE ON LIEFRANDO!! OVERPRICED + DELIVERY TIME IS TOO LONG + TERRIBE COMMUNICATION AND SERVICE. As many other takeaway reviews have mentioned, customer service is very bad and the staff are rude and not professional at all for takeaways as they were arguing with customer. I had some trouble with the delivery address and he started shouting and fighting on the phone instead of calmly providing solution, he also started blaming for me for not providing a room number but then I had to correct him and say it has been written and he didn’t apologise for his mistake. Did not listen to delivery instructions. I was upset and posted the review and he called me later to threaten to post a comment about me as a customer. The food tastes decent but too spicy and very oily. Will not recommend this restaurant or order from this restaurant again.

Update: As you can see the business replies to the review once again fighting about the incident rather than being professional. While I accidentally provided the wrong address that does not give you the right to speak disrespectfully on the phone and blame me for not providing other information such as room number when in fact I did. Also they continued to lie as I did not receive any calls from the driver and only received calls from the restaurant. I asked the food to be delivered in front of the Hotel but received no calls from the delivery driver so I had no idea where my food was! I only received calls from the restaurant updating that the delivery has been left at reception despite me waiting outside the hotel for a call about my food. If the delivery driver had called me then this would’ve most likely been resolved faster however he did not, only the restaurant called me which led to various delays.

A customer’s mistake does not make it acceptable to lie about your own faults or to respond rudely to a customer, better communication from the delivery driver and more professionalism from the restaurant would have resolved this situation and not led to this bad review. Mistakes can be tolerated but lies and rudeness to customers is where I...

In the last three years I have visited mataji’s kitchen more than 30 times. My Indian and German friends and many of my work colleagues also go there regularly. I met the chef at mataji’s kitchen recently. He comes from India and has worked in a 5-star hotel in Mumbai for the past 15 years, most recently as a kitchen executive, Indian kitchen. His brother has been working at mataji’s kitchen as a Tandoori chef for two years. On my last visit, I tried the house recommendation as a starter: Various vegetable cookies with a salad of peas and green peppers, plus homemade mint sauce and Tarmar beef yoghurt sauce (not yet on the menu). I chose Haryali Malai Tikka as the main course. Both dishes were fantastic. For that 5 stars. The team here is so creative and modern and always presents something new. We like to come here because of the combination of tradition and modernity. In addition, the employees are always friendly and caring. It is one of the cleanest Indian restaurants. The best Indian restaurants in London, New York, Sydney are very modern; and mataji's kitchen also goes this way. I don't usually write reviews, I just read them. But I've noticed a few negative reviews lately, which are probably from Indian compatriots and which I find unfair. I can not imagine that the authors were actually guests in mataji's kitchen. I observe and experience great hospitality at mataji’s kitchen. All guests are looked after and served equally well. So I definitely recommend a visit - you can expect very delicious Indian food in a...
