Where to start... This was literally the worst experience I've had in Munich in a while.
The coffee and the matcha were profoundly disappointing. But to be fair, I wouldn't say they were bad, but considering the high prices, you would expect something more decent. The service however, was the worst imaginable. We were a group of eight people, and unfortunately, the café didn't have room for all of us. That's understandable, so we ordered to go. After spending around 40 euros on one order, one of the ladies in our group was thirsty and asked for a glass of tap water. The waiter, who had been rolling his eyes at us the entire time, responded verbatim, "Don't you guys have water at home?" We only asked for ONE glass of water for our group of eight.
Arrogance was a constant throughout the service, but it didn't end there. As our orders were numerous, some of us went outside and sat on the completely empty benches (see picture). It was lightly raining, so nobody else was there. The same waiter came outside and told us to leave immediately because we ordered "to-go". When we pointed out his rudeness, he added, "And don't tip, never tip."
I hope this review will deter others from visiting this place. If you enjoy being treated this way, then by all means, go ahead –...
Read moreI have been to this cafe a number of times and have always enjoyed the coffee and their cakes. However, the service has left much to be desired a number of times.
One of the waitresses is rather passive-aggressive to the customers. When I asked her "what cakes do you have?", she replied "the ones listed on the menu." When I asked if the matcha tea came with milk, she rolled her eyes and said "yeah?" as if the dumbest question had just got asked. When she listed the cakes, she gave off a resigned sigh and went through the list at such a speed that no one at the table could understand her. To top it all, she stresses everytime that the card payment system "has been having problems today." in order to encourage people to pay by cash. After hearing this three times over a space of several months, I stopped believing it.
I am sorry to caveat my positive experience with the actual coffee with such a review, but the truth is that placing an order at this cafe has almost become a stressful experience given how much I feel like I'm burdening their staff...
Read moreSo I went in to get a hot chocolate. 9 month pregnant and needed a bit of sugar cause my blood pressure was very low and I felt like I was going to faint. I had an appointment with the doctor at Münchner Freiheit so ordered the chocolate to go and as I was walking out I needed to sit for a second. The waiter made me stand up and leave immediately since i had ordered the chocolate to go. I explained that I just needed a minute cause I felt sick. He didnt care and asked me again to leave eventhough the cafe was completely empty (so not like they urgently needed the table). I found it so rude and inhuman. Made me cry and I left right away. I had to go and sit outside on the floor. Needless to say that this place is boycotted by me and my friends.
Edit: thanks for your answer but although I like to write reviews in English I speak perfect German; which was the language in which I talked to the waiter, so he did...
