The average rating doesn't seem plausible to me at all - even though the service was friendly and the waiting time seemed reasonable, the food was nothing short of awful.
We started with maki and Yasai - tempura. The sushi fell apart, as the rice was dry, the portion size was ridiculous. The tempura tasted absolutely neutral and were extremely poor value.
We didn't even finish our mains: the Yasai Curry, which was just two big pieces of potatoes and 2 pieces of carrot threw together in an absolutely flavorless "curry" broth and a pile of dry rice. The Tantanmen was just equally lacking flavor. It literally tasted like water, the spinach was just some deep frozen stuff, the minced beef didn't taste like beef at all.
All that disappointment for a total of 40€. I think you're better off going taking that money anywhere else, literally. How this place still exists is beyond me
Edit, as a comment for your response: Yes, your employee asked us if everything was fine - but do you think a client is always willing to argue when there's literally nothing in for him? How are you supposed to compensate us, with more awful food? I get it, when there are 1-2 things slightly off, but are you really trying to tell me what we had yesterday was prepared by a trained chef? How bad do you think the food needs to be if someone is going out if his way to write a review like that? No, we absolutely didn't finish our main dishes and we will absolutely pass on the opportunity to come back, there are plenty of Japanese restaurants in Munich who consistently deliver...
Read moreA huge trap if you are expecting anything traditional from the Japanese cuisine. On top of that, the execution is just awful, way below average. I went there last night with my wife and ordered gyosa, spring rolls and Alaska rolls as starters. Both spring rolls and Alaska rolls were ok, nothing to complain about, as for the gyosas, on the other hand, came cold and burned on the bottom (not that nice slightly burnt crust from authentic gyosas, but burned), and it's taste was also a unappealing, it seemed to me that they had prepared it upfront and were just waiting for someone to order it. The biggest disappointment, however, was related to the ramen noodles we ordered, if by any chance that could be called ramen noodles. The noodles itself felt like those cheap ones we get from the supermarket, the broth was terribly tasteless and they just threw in some seaweed to look like a full dish. To make it even worse, the use ham as chashu, just that ordinary sliced ham you get from your grocery list. We're in Germany and with so many good choices of pork meat, they decide to go with the laziest and reckless option. All of that for a 12.5€ ramen noodle dish. I've been to Japan and tried many ramen noodles there, from ordinary to the best rated ones, and I assure you the ones we ordered yesterday do not come even close in terms of quality and authentiicity. If you want to see it for yourself, up to you, but I highly recommend you to...
Read moreWe researched for over an hour to find the nicest sushi experience in Munich. After reading many reviews, we came to the conclusion Ohayou was the place for us!
This couldn't be further removed from the truth. The server was a kind lady who spoke no German but perfect English and this was certainly welcome. She helped us to order what she thought to be the best on the menu. We were very excited for the food, but then it came. One of the servers accidentally brought it to another table. We wished that the mistake was made so that we could have left to eat somewhere else. The portions were ridiculously small and they must have used only the finest of fish, since there was so little of it in the sushi rolls. Speaking of the rolls, the chef must've been drunk on sake, since they were not even round and seemed like they were rolled by a child.
When the server lady came back and confidently asked us what was next, we told her: the bill. We are happy that she didn't live in the Meiji period, otherwise seppuku would have been the only solution for dishonoring her culture and country. Kidding of course, but seriously:
