A Hidden Gem in Milbertshofen
Tucked away in Munich's Milbertshofen district, Rabiang Thai offers an authentic Thai dining experience that combines excellent food with warm hospitality. During our recent visit, we were immediately struck by the welcoming atmosphere and the attentive nature of the staff, who made us feel at home from the moment we stepped in.
Starters
We began our meal with Pak Thod (vegetable tempura), which arrived perfectly crispy on the outside while maintaining the vegetables' natural freshness. The accompanying dipping sauce provided just the right balance of sweet and tangy notes.
Main Courses
The highlight of our evening was the Ped Makham, featuring tender slices of duck in a rich tamarind sauce. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the sauce offered a delightful combination of sweet and sour flavors that Thai cuisine is famous for.
Our second main, the Panang curry with chicken, showcased the kitchen's expertise with Thai curries. The coconut-based curry was creamy with just the right level of spice, and the chicken was succulent and well-seasoned.
Service and Value
What truly sets Rabiang Thai apart is their exceptional service. The staff was not only knowledgeable about the menu but also genuinely enthusiastic about ensuring we had the best possible dining experience. Their attentiveness and friendly demeanor added significantly to our enjoyment of the meal.
In terms of value for money, Rabiang Thai offers excellent quality at reasonable prices. Most dishes are fairly priced for the portion size and quality of ingredients. The only minor quibble would be the Thai iced teas, which, while refreshing and authentic, were a bit on the expensive side compared to other beverages.
Verdict
With its combination of delicious authentic Thai cuisine, exceptional service, and generally reasonable prices, Rabiang Thai is a standout option for both casual dinners and special occasions. The overall experience offers great value for money, making it a welcome addition to Munich's Thai dining scene and onto our list of restaurants to...
Read moreI think you would be hard pressed to find better or more authentic Thai food in Munich. service is always excellent, the menu is varied and extensive. they do have a few.... hmm, dishes on the menu that seem catered to ppl who like that 'generic Asian food'?😂😂 but we have never ordered those, so everything we've eaten has always tasted amazing and like we remember from Thailand. highly recommend the papaya salad, kratiam prik Thai, the pad kapao (say bye to your ahole but so worth it!!, lab gai salad and the chicken sate) - - massaman curry, and the pad thai. we are always so happy with these dishes that we still havnt tried the giant whole fish (looks great though)!! they make a good mai Tai and caipi as well. dishes are always deliciously presented, and there are nice touches and attention to detail. friendly staff, and beautiful indoor decor. this is THE placeedit: while they do a great job even in full conditions, this place does get packed on Fri-Sat. I recommend coming on a weekday evening if you don't want to be stressed by waiting. a reservation is also always recommended ((on a...
Read moreI’ve been coming here a few times a month for over a year now, and was always pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the flavours. However I was there yesterday and the Som Tum (papaya salad) has become really watery and lacking in flavour, and 0 spice. The Pad Thai this time was also soggy, and the bean sprouts were on the verge of being bad.
When I told the staff my feedback they told me they had to get rid of spice by default because people complained that the food was too spicy, and they said we should have requested extra spice… I wish they had told us this before we ordered our food! Part of the reason I came here often was because of the authenticity of the flavours, and that includes the spice!
I hope they find a way to keep the flavours of the dishes they make without catering their cooking to the Western palette because spice and strong lime / fish sauce flavours are the very essence...
