I wanted to like this place however, they did not offer any English menu which I had a hard time ordering. And also the hosts did not speak English or understood English, which was a really difficult situation for both of us because I wanted something and there were no pictures on the menu. I ended up ordering the spring roll with chicken and that was amazing and I appreciated that something very filling a must try. I wanted something different and I was brought a different type of noodles with lots of chicken and I just didn’t like it. It was too salty and Was not the type of food I was expecting.. Overall I think it was just a language barrier that was the issue and I wish there was English menu, and will not go back here again.

Tan Nam is a Vietnamese restaurant on Balanstr. The ambience is warm with plenty on wall paintings. They have a great mittags menu option, where you can choose between a Soup/ Salad/ Spring roll and a Main course for €9.5. We chose the L7B (Pho with Chicken) and L6D (Rice Noodles with Chicken). For starters, we ordered the Spring roll. The service was quick, the food was tasty (not the most authentic I've had in Munich, but definitely good) and the ingredients were fresh. The staff were friendly. In the end, they also offered us a Fortune cookie (that's a nice touch!) Will definitely drop in for dinner soon!

We ordered takeaway from the MittagsmenĂŒ where you can choose your entree (vegetarian spring rolls, soup or a small salad) and main dish. For our main dishes we ordered BĂșn with grilled pork and BĂșn with beef in betel leaf. The food was delicious and very fresh but the BĂșn with grilled pork was so oily that there was a pool of oil at the bottom of the bowl and therefore we couldn’t finish the whole dish. As part of the MittagsmenĂŒ we also received a free mango cream for dessert which was very nice. There also is a lot of packaging waste when ordering takeaway but of course that can be avoided by eating in.

My favorite vietnamese restaurant in Munich that'll deliver, at the moment (Mar/Apr -21). They make tasty versions of all the staples I've tried so far. More so, they allow the very customizations I often look for: steamy bao with both the right chew and delicious filling; pho to one's preferred protein and size (delivering broth & fillers+noodles separately!); fresh and strongly flavorful salads with and without prawns or mince; vegetarian and pork rice noodles that comes with a generous amount of dipping sauce. It all delivered well, even though our Wolt courier had to bike quite far in unfriendly weather. I am quite impressed with the price-to-quality ratio and can't give anything but five stars. I'm curious to see how they'll hold up over time, and whether they'll slowly be slipping the same way as some of my previous favs: Thao, Bi Beo/Koriander Too, Cochinchina,...

(Sorry, but AUNTIES WIN!)

Vielen...
