The Keg Bar — Restaurant in Munich

I was here twice, food is cheap but terrible, takes forever to come, and could give you a stomachache from the level of hygiene.

Today our steak pie took 1 hour to come, so we observed from our table what our waiter was doing: our friends ordered burgers which had been standing on the counter for 15 minutes while the waiter was fooling around with his colleagues; when he finally noticed the burgers, he took his time to get the cutlery, and picked up the top slices of the bun with his bare hands (which in the meantime had touched dirty glasses, money, tables) to check what was inside.

When our steak pies finally came, we noticed that people all around who had arrived at least 30 minutes after us already received and finished their meals.

We told the waiter politely that it was not acceptable to demand payment for reheated bar food that was 1 hour late, especially since we had ordered before everyone else did. He was rude and argued there was no such law for this. His excuse was there was only 1 chef in the kitchen; we asked how it was possible for there to be just 1 chef for such a big place on Saturday night, and he retorted "if not for the rain today the place would be empty". (Great service logic for every bar's most busy night of the week). For us that was too much arrogance from a waiter with frozen bar food that was 1 hour late (we ordered before the soccer match, and it came in the second half).

Both times the place was also full of rowdy bachelor parties who would stand on the tables yelling, falling over and block the screens of those who wanted to watch the games..which can be annoying if you're not as drunk...

This is by far my favourite bar/pub in Munich. "Sadly", for the past months it's getting more and more popular and thus more and more crowded. If you're now wondering why this guy gave this pub 5 out of 5 stars if it's as crowded as he says, hang on: Often it's hard to even find a place for small groups of three, but if you can find a place to sit you won't be disappointed. Food's awesome, Drinks are awesome, Staff's awesome! If you can, make sure that you don't miss out on the nice events they have almost every day, for example Karaoke (free shot for every singer), live acts or (my personal favourite) the weekly Quiz Night!

Food: The Burgers are on top (you can even create your own one), the fries and potato wedges are very nice too. haven't tried the wraps so far though. Overall it's typical bar-food and there won't be anything to dislike about it.

Drinks: They serve one of the best beers I know (Tegernseer Hell) from the tap, but they also have all sorts of other beers and ciders which are very tasty. The shots and Longdrinks they have are awesome too.

Staff: The staff is just awesome! no matter how crowded it gets, these guys will always try to make your stay the best possible. They are humorous and often joke around with the guests.

I absolutely love this place and hope it will stay like this...

Sorry to do this sad review, but I have to share the experience with other people. My friends and I just had some food and beers at The Keg this evening, and when we asked for the bill. We were asked to pay for 18 helle beers. We were shocked! Our friends already paid for their 4-5 beers and food they had, and that was correct. When the rest of the bill was to be paid, he said another 18 beers were drunken... This was ridiculous, and the guy said this must be a mistake as well. He then went to ask the other staff to check, and after a while, another female staff member was sent to help us. She asked us how many beers we would like to pay for, and we told her 5 for our friend, and then she still wanted to charge us for 18 beers in total. It's crazy that she wanted to charge us for beers that we didn't drink. In the end, we said this was not honest to her, and we paid the bill and left. Just want to advise other people to check their bill before paying, and I hope this doesn't happen to others. The first staff member knew there was something wrong with the invoice, but the other female staff she just didn't care. I hope this will help others not to experience...
