Gosch — Restaurant in Norderney

Regards the Gosch Restaurant on Norderney....our first night on the island...27Oct'24....not a good welcoming experience....we asked if they could offer gluten-free items....the help smirked, acted like they had no idea what we wanted, and then gave us a three-ring binder to look for ourselves...we found several items...we waited for a waiter, and learned that we needed to order at the counter...so, i got up and went to the counter....once again, i stressed the need for one meal to be gluten-free....it was served-up very quickly, but the salads included bread, and cream sauce; they had no regard for our gluten-free request...when they re-did the salad, they put excessive oil&vinegar on the salad, even though we specifically requested "on-the-side".....i also noticed that we were charged for three salads, but we only ordered two....the help argued with me, stating that i, in fact, did order three salads...i replied, we are only two people.....as a work-around on the gluten-free issue, we asked if they could put a little crab meat on the wife's salad, so she could have some meat...i indicated that i knew it would be an up-charge...they said that this was not an option on their menu...then he said he could do it for us...when we got the bill, he charged us for an entire $19 crab-meat dinner in addition to the $14 soup/salad order....everything was quick-quick, with no regard for our requests; and no attempt to be a little friendly; and it was not busy; i commented that it was our first night on the island, and no human response....my plate was an obscene amount of runny potato salad with a small chunk of over-breaded fish; i ate about a third of the potato salad; no garnish, no concern for presentation.....when i picked-up my wife's corrected order, the three men behind the counter told me that thy hoped i would not come up to the counter again....i told them that i did not wish for conflict; i only needed to be careful about the gluten-free issue...(in my defense: my wife and i travel a lot; it seems that when we request gluten-free, restaurants are very sympathetic to our wishes, and very accommodating; it is not always easy to travel gluten-free, but most places try to help) this Gosch restaurant was the opposite.....i'm sure that the restaurant chain has a good business plan, but the counter personnel at this Norderney restaurant, this evening, were awful).......by contrast, the next two evenings, we ate at Lieb & Seele restaurant and deLeckerbeck restaurant; both were great experiences; both were free to discuss and recommend menu items...at deLeckerbeck, the cook said we could choose ANY item on the menu, and he would make sure that it was prepared...

Das Ambiente:

Gosch auf Norderney ist die reinste Massenabfertigung. Jede Frittenbude im Arbeiterbezirk hat mehr Ambiente als dieser Laden.

Man sitzt auf hohen Stühlen, an hohen Tischen, die nicht dazu einladen nach dem Essen noch fünf Minuten zu verweilen. Viel mehr verspürt man den Drang, dass Restaurant so schnell wie möglich nach dem Essen zu verlassen.

Das Essen bestellt man wie bei McDonald's an einem Tresen. Sobald das Essen fertig ist, wird man aufgerufen.

Das Essen:

Ich bestellte mir Scholle Finkenwerder Art (mit Getränk 23,50 €) Die Scholle und die Beilagen wurden auf einem viel zu kleinen Teller gereicht, sodass das Essen beinahe herabfiel.

Die Bratkartoffeln waren innen und außen matschig. Der Salat hatte den Charakter eines Tütensalats mit Fertigdressing. Einen Grätenteller gab es nicht. Nach dem Essen sah der Teller wie ein Schlachtfeld aus.

Das Personal:

Die Mitarbeiter*innen waren weder besonders höflich, noch unhöflich. Als Gast war ich halt nur eine Nummer.

Die Mitarbeiterinnen, welche das benutzte Geschirr abräumten, machten einen gelangweilten und desinteressierten Eindruck.

Es hat auch niemanden interessiert, ob es mir geschmeckt hat.

Der Straßenverkauf:

Die Fischbrötchen sind teuer, aber dafür sind sie klein.

Krabbenbrötchen gibt es zum "Tagespreis". Ein Preis in Euro ist nicht angegeben. Offenbar glaubt man bei Gosch, dass man sich nicht an die Preisangabeverordnung halten muss.

Mein Fazit:

Gosch auf Norderney ist eine überbewertete Fischbude mit Massenabfertigung, in der die Gäste nur eine Nummer sind.

Ob es geschmeckt hat ist unerheblich, Hauptsache man hat viel Geld bezahlt und macht den Tisch schnell für die...

Bisher waren wir schon in vielen Gosch-Restaurants und da wir jetzt zum ersten Mal Norderney besucht haben, stand natürlich auch das Gosch auf Norderney auf unserem Plan. Wir freuen uns immer auf den Edelfisch-Teller und auch diesmal waren wieder super zufrieden: Es ist einfach lecker und eine sehr große Portion! Wenn wir dann noch eine Flasche Grauburgunder für unter 20€ bekommen, wobei uns der Wein sehr gut geschmeckt hat, dann finden wir das sensationell! Die Bedienung war auch super nett! Damit gibt es von uns eine Bewertung in allen Bereichen von 5 Sternen. Unglaublich war mein Erlebnis am nächsten Tag: Leider habe ich bei der Abreise festgestellt, dass ich mein Portemonnaie verloren habe. Nach dem Sperren der Karten, habe ich mich relativ hoffnungslos beim Fundbüro mit der Intention gemeldet: Auch wenn das Geld weg ist, hoffentlich muss ich nicht die ganzen Dokumente neu beantragen. Dann kam kurze Zeit später der Anruf vom Fundbüro, dass der Chef vom Gosch Norderney das Portemonnaie abgegeben hat. Das Bargeld war komplett vorhanden! Wahrscheinlich hat er es ja nicht persönlich gefunden, daher bedanke ich mich auch bei allen anderen Personen in der Kette: Vielleicht haben es ja auch tolle Gäste gefunden, die es in allen Gosch-Restaurants gibt und wir schon kennenlernen durften. Aber auf jeden Fall bei dem Gosch-Team inkl. Chef, mit denen ich mich schon bzgl. Finderlohn in Verbindung gesetzt habe. Wir freuen uns schon auf unseren nächsten...
