I'm conflicted. The food is delicious, don't get me wrong. Well-balanced, fresh, absolutely delicious with a clean and spacious interior and polite Japanese staff. Everything about my meal was perfect... except the last minute.
My bill came out to be €44,90 and I asked to pay by card. Fine — my server got the pin machine, typed in €49,00, and took my card to tap for me. As the receipt printed out, I pointed out the difference, thinking this was an honest mistake of mixing up the numbers. My server brushed my comment off and chose to look at me dumbfounded instead. I thought it was because we were conversing in English and that wasn't her strong suit. I ask again, pointing out that 44,90 is different from 49 and she ends up saying that she went ahead and just included a tip. After a pause, she asks if she should give back any money to me.
Here's the thing. Forcing a tip before even asking about it is highly impolite and passive aggressive. Feigning ignorance is also very unprofessional. If you charge a standard tip on top of a meal (they don't), you can say so and I'll realize I didn't notice the fine print. But for one person that had a bill of that much and ate very quickly (we're looking at €1/minute), this is disappointing behaviour for what is otherwise a very nice establishment.
Even if I sound like a gullible American tourist, this forced tip is not the way to go, especially in Germany where there is a low tipping culture to begin with. Coming from someone that lives in the Netherlands and visits Germany on business quite often, I'm saddened by this server's decision.
I was planning on eating here the next few nights in a row but now will take my business elsewhere. That said, if you want great food, for sure try this place out. Hopefully you have a more transparent...
Read moreI can't understand the many good reviews. For me everything is below average. The decor is absent. The food is over-priced. And most importantly, the service is really bad.
It wasn't that bad the last time I came here a couple of years ago. This time I wanted to take my husband and my family there as they've never been. We ordered ramen, sushi, and bento box. The other dishes are average but I've never seen such stingy bowl of ramen. I ordered the Tantanmen and there's like a tablespoon of minced pork with one leaf of bok choy and some leeks and a half egg. That's it. That's like 12 euro. The broth is not bad, but is definitely over-priced for the quality.
But what I cannot accept is the bad service. The other staff is nice, but somehow the lady that served our table was horrible. She was in a bad mood all the time and was rude to us. She got our order wrong, which shouldn't be that hard as we marked everything on the paper they provided so there shouldn't be any confusion. When she brought over the food and asked who has the ramen with extra vegetable, we said no one ordered that. And instead of checking, she just repeated it again in a louder volume. When she finally realized she got the order wrong and brought us the right one, we wanted to ask her something and she just turned away and completely ignored us. I wanted to spend a nice relaxing evening with my family, but her constant frowning and crankiness kinda killed the mood. Just burned a hundred euro for nothing. I'm never coming...
Read moreWe've been there four times.
This is our story.
First time great food adventure. We took three different ramen soup, sushi set and ice cream in this interesting flavour for dessert, everytjing for two people.
We came back. Also great night.
Third time was closed, was just information on the doors, No jnformation on the Facebook or website. Because we really liked this place we decided to come back again.
We were so so surprised. On the way to the restaurant we saw that is kind empty inside, we drove back from other town, so we specialy stopped in Nurmberg to go to the komekome. We entered and they said that is no place for two people inside for fast dinner. We tried to ask about some place, but we had impression that they just dont want us there cause we dont speak in german language.
Three waitresses, restaurant open till 23:00 but at 19 when was empty inside No place for two people, impossible to make a reservation...
We for sure will not spend any more money in KomeKome.
We can resommend some nice restaurant near by, Ho Lang with no problem with english speaking people...
