Most probably a nice place to go to and ofc something that kids would enjoy. However, would be nicer if there were also child and family friendly employees. We were catching a stroll in NUE today(we don't live here), kids saw the place, they wanted to go there, we went in, found a lady at the reception (approx in her late 40s or so) asked her the prices, she answered back with not much interest, and then stepped aside to discuss with my friend, we went back, but this time my friend asked, and the lady answered, with a rude bothered tone "I have already said that" then came another client behind us and she rudely dushed us to the side so she could attend to another person that seemed more important. This is when i thought, we are in a wrong place. I wouldn't mind spending whatever dime for my kids to enjoy but not a dime where I feel unwelcome. We left, and clearly, we could hear hear mumbling, not in a nice way but actually in a very disrespectful manner, a customer would ever get from a service provider. U NEED TO CHANGE YOUR RECEPTION STAFF!!! PROPABLY FIND YOUNGER,JOLLY,DOWN TO EARTH AND FRIENDLY PEOPLE, that can work in a kid's/family centre!!! We might have looked like people that couldn't afford it, or people that were in a wrong place cos that's exactly the impression we got. (This is no exaggeration, and words can't express any better, it was actually worse than what it sounds here!!!) In simple words, lady was rude, unfriendly, and sad to say but also racist!!! And not surprising, found a similar post from two months ago! Something has to be...
Read moreGenerally, it is a well-designed and informative museum showing lots of toy collections. The themes are interesting such as bees and trains, as well as historical development of the toy industry and types of toys. However, there was an unpleasant experience during my visit.
When I was watching ground floor exhibition attentively, a security guard suddenly approached me and asked me for showing tickets. This disrupted my mood on visiting the museum. It was strange since he might have suspected me for not purchasing tickets (but without checking with other guests as well). Actually, I have not encountered such sudden ‘ticket inspection’ in other museums except in taking trains. A only possible explanation is that I had visited the special exhibition first and he did not notice me that I had indeed purchased tickets. If this was really the case, the museum should consider giving guests identifying stickers and have clear instructions on where the main exhibition starts to prevent this type of embarrassment happening on other guests...
Read moreWent there with 2 kids (13, 11). The entry fee is minute, the entrance hall is very promising - and with that unfortunately the best parts are over already.
I know it's a privately run museum and probably the owners are missing the funds to refresh it, but in 2022 cramping as many artefacts into a large display as you can and adding short titles under them is not enough to grab the kids' attention. There were barely any interactive elements and while I recon that the region has a rich history in designing and producing toys, the way it is presented is very outdated.
Practically I wouldn't recommend this museum for kids who nowadays spend most of their time on their phones, as they will just run through in 20 minutes without taking away anything.
A bit better suited for their parents who are still...
