Nvremberga Gin Distillery — Restaurant in Nuremberg

Nurnberg is probably one of my favourite cities in the world and have been there 5 times in the last 7 years. Can’t wait to go again in February as part of my ski/trade show/holiday trip. Have a friend that has worked the trade shows with me and he is from Nurnberg and one night he decided to take me “off the beaten path” to show me some really cool places in Old Nurnberg. The Gin & Julep Bar is so far off the beaten path, that if you don’t have a friend take you there, you’ll never find it. Think Speakeasy from days long gone. It’s on a non descript street with zero businesses on it. Keep your eyes open or you wont’ find it. You get there and there is a small doorway, red light and phone in front of the locked entrance. You pick up the phone, and be patient….someone may or may not come to the door and let you in. I got in, my buddy had to go, and I got seated at the bar. Met the owner/bar keep and had a fabulous evening. I think the drink menu only has 10 or so drinks on it, but if he knows it, he will make it, and I doubt there is much that he doesn’t know how to make. Ordered my favourite cocktail, an Old Cuban and watched as he carefully prepared it. Smashing the mint was a game changer and will never muddle another bunch of mint leaves as long as I live. Truly a must visit kind of place but its always jammed with the locals that love this place so take that into consideration. Probably one of the coolest little bars I’ve ever been in…..and I’ve been in lot...

Gestern hat mein Kumpel meine Freundin und mich in diese Bar gebracht. Kurz als Info: wir sind definitiv keine Cocktailexperten, trinken z.B. sehr gerne Mojito und andere Klassiker die jeder so kennt. Nun zum Erlebnis der Bar, das definitiv das Wort Erlebnis verdient!

Am Eingang waren wir schon mal über das Empfangsprozedere überrascht das wir so noch nirgends gesehen haben, man steht in einer kleinen Nische bzw. Telefonzelle und hebt den Hörer ab, bis man empfangen und herzlich begrüßt wird. Fazit: macht Lust auf mehr!

Wir wurden an unseren Platz gebracht und uns wurde ein stilles Wasser mit Eiswürfel gereicht. Fazit: eine sehr nette Aufmerksamkeit!

Die Bedienung kam umgehen an den Tisch und hat uns in die - bis dahin für uns relativ unbekannte - Welt der Cocktails eingeführt. Die Zutaten Zubereitung und Art der angebotenen Cocktails wurden uns - nach unserem Empfinden - höchst professionell erörtert (wir wurden, im positiven Sinn, fast schon erschlagen von der geballten Flut an Infos. Die Souveränität der Bedienung nahm uns jedoch jegliche „Angst“ etwas total unbekanntes zu bestellen) Fazit: wir können es kaum erwarten bis die Drinks auf den Tisch kommen!

Während der Zubereitungszeit hatten wir Gelegenheit die Atmosphäre der Bar auf uns wirken zu lassen und dem Chef gespannt bei der Zubereitung zuzusehen. Was soll man sagen, das Ambiente ist einfach stimmig und macht einfach nur noch mehr Lust auf einen Cocktail.

So jetzt kommen wir zum wichtigsten Teil zu den Drinks:

Kurz und knapp, so etwas haben wir bislang nicht geschmeckt.....einfach nur lecker, eine wahre Geschmacksexplosion! Wer es nicht mal ausprobiert, selber schuld.

Unsere Meinung, eine absolut runde Geschichte, super Drinks, absolut preiswert, tolles Ambiente tolles Team. Probiert es mal aus und macht euch ein eigenes Bild.

P.s. Die Bewertungen mit 4 Sterne oder sogar noch weniger können wir in keiner Weise nachvollziehen, wir fühlten uns bestens aufgehoben und sollte etwas nicht zur eigenen Zufriedenheit sein würde alles unternommen das zu ändern.....man sollte halt einfach...

The cocktails are fantastic!!! I would say he makes the best cocktails in Nuremberg by far! I tried a mixture of mescal and birch juice with a soft flavor of salted caramel - delicious! This small bar is located in small lane, hidden and you have to pick the phone to enter. :) There was only one disturbing occasion, which ruined our very good impression: we waited for nearly 40 minutes before we got our drinks and then had 5 minutes to finish them as the table was reserved from 10 PM. The waitress didn’t let us finish, so we had to leave at exactly 10 PM, no mercy. 5 minutes would have been nice. ...
