Ming’s Wok – Simple, Tasty, and Surprisingly Kid-Friendly
Ming’s Wok is one of those classic hole-in-the-wall Chinese spots—nothing fancy, but it hits the mark where it counts. The atmosphere is simple and low-key, which worked just fine for a casual lunch.
The food was surprisingly good, especially considering the location. Some of the classic dishes had a bit of a twist—slightly different than what we expected—but still tasty and satisfying. What really stood out for us was the kids’ menu, which is something we really appreciated. Our 6- and 8-year-old boys absolutely loved their chicken and rice plates. That alone puts Ming’s Wok ahead of many other restaurants in the area, where you’re often stuck trying to get kids to eat overly sauced or spicy adult dishes.
While the experience was good, the price was a bit of a shock. Lunch for two adults and two kids came out to over €70, which felt pretty steep for what we ordered. Given the no-frills setting and standard portion sizes, I expected something more budget-friendly.
Bottom Line:
Ming’s Wok is a solid, no-frills Chinese spot with a tasty menu and a great option for families—especially if you’ve got picky eaters. It’s not fancy and the pricing felt high for what we got, but we’d go back mainly because our kids...
Read moreWorst service I have ever received in a restaurant. Two tables who came after us had their food served while we got nothing. Somewhere along the way, a huge group of 20-30 China tourists entered the restaurant and even they started getting served their food despite ordering after us. After getting absolutely no food after such a long wait, I went to the kitchen to ask. The female owner ignored me. She didn't even bother to make eye contact. Just continued to serve other people who ordered after us. The most galling thing was, the people who got the food before us all ordered the same thing - fried noodles. We got so angry we left. There was no way we were going to wait for 20-30 people who came atter us to finish getting their food before we get anything to eat. This restaurant is a small time operation incapable of keeping track of who ordered the food first, and it WILL prioritise big groups of China tourists before patrons who arrived first. And if you have any complaints, the owners will ignore you. Customer service is not understood here. By the way, the place is dirty too. Tablecloth is stained and full of crumbs. And the toilet has...
Read moreI was tiring of German food every day (we stayed for a month) and Ming’s was friendly and accommodating. I ordered the rice noodles with veggies and chicken to go, and it was more than I could eat for two meals!
Huge plus is that they send their takeout in a container that fits in the tiny hotel fridge.
It was delightful to sit and wait for the 15 or so minutes it took to make my meal as the staff likely of family and friends laughed and talked together and their son lit a lovely fire as the weather had...
