cracks fingers Hi I am a Texan. And here is my honest review of Salsarico. Food: I ordered the frozen strawberry margarita. It was sad, bitter, didn’t taste of strawberries. Your typical Mexican restaurant margarita would be in an actual margarita glass with salt on the rim, a lime on the rim, and would taste sweet. I ordered the Tostada Salsarico. I didn’t realize at first glance that it was considered a “Mexican pizza” so when i was handed the plate, it looked like a giant pile of mush. it was basically a gigantic disassembled burrito: a flour tortilla with navy beans, drier than the Sahara, overseasoned ground beef, microwaved shredded cheese, and the normal mexican food etc. I totally can get behind the idea of them having Mexican Pizza. But I definitely wouldn’t label it then as a Tostada. Tostadas are fried till crisp corn tortillas with retried beans, cheese, lettuce, typically ground beef and whatever toppings you would like to add. Honestly, couldn’t finish it. My husband ordered the enchiladas con picadillo. It really didn’t look anything like an enchilada, but I do need to give credit to the flavors that were there. The chicken tasted really good. The flavor reminded me of how a decent enchilada could taste. We ordered the corn tortilla chips with salsa, guacamole and queso. Their salsa tastes more like picante from a glass. Their guacamole was mush, and the queso was your typical queso, it maybe was missing some heat and/or tomatoes inside. But the chips tasted very tasty. Seasoned nicely. Would have ordered more if I could have. We also ordered the hot corn on the cob with tequila butter. It tasted like, well, corn on the cob. No complaints. Love me some corn. I didn’t pick up any special flavor with the butter but it was okay with me. This is all my opinions as someone who has tasted and grown up with true Mexican food as well as Tex-Mex. So of course only take me seriously if you are someone who expects the authentic flavor because you know how Mexican food really tastes. And perhaps I need to come again and try some more menu items. The Decor: Cute and A for effort! The cacti are more of a New Mexico theme but, hey it works. The lassos and pistols were a cute addition. The license plates did not exactly make any sense especially considering they were from states not even remotely close to Texas. As well as the umbrellas on the ceiling didn’t seem to fit. BUT, it worked all together. You walk in, you know it is a Mexican restaurant. It is hard to get the exact real thing so all in all, it was a nice experience. And the staff were very friendly. 10/10 Staff. Thank you for reading!
Edit: I am reading Salsarico’s responses to bad reviews. It is very obvious that they lack humility and self-awareness. When a restaurant cannot even take responsibilities for their mistakes, why do they deserve our time and money? Obviously they aren’t going to try to fix their problems, atleast right now. Good luck to the owner, you’re...
Read moreLet me be frank. The food is abismal. You're going for the drinks if anything. Any attempt to call this a Mexican place or a Tex-Mex place is an insult. Cheap ingredients thrown together to make a ok at best meal is unacceptable when there are so many good and better options in Rostock. I have been boycotting this place for the past two years but yesterday I went back to try it again for someone else's birthday and somehow it's even worse than I remember. At least make your tortillas from scratch. It's not hard. And a salad like thing next to it is just wrong. Where are the refried beans or the Mexican rice? As someone who grew up in a Mexican household and had a lot of Tex-Mex restaurants growing up I stand by my boycott and am actively considering opening up my own restaurant purely to...
Read moreill no longer patronize. Even it's not very crowded ... but the service is really bad, especially an older waitress. we have booked the table early in that day, but when we arrived, she said no any information with bad tone?? Although the window is open, it is like a sauna in a restaurant. There are enough service personnel available, but then waited for nearly an hour for the drinks. Drinks are too expensive. The price of the food is not bad. The potatoes there are too few and too hard. Happy hour with some cocktails. My visit reflected the opinions of several people, because I was with a group of more...
