Restaurant Café Rosenberger — Restaurant in Rüdesheim am Rhein

Restaurant Rosenberger… central located at the corner of Rheinstraße / Drossengasse in Rüdesheim. From outside it looks pretty nice and even romantic. A bit irritating photos of dishes at the window - not matching the atmosphere of the restaurant. I got attracted by the crispy spicy / hot / extra hot or explosive chicken. Since I can take spicy food I decided to order „explosive chicken“. Also I did order a good red wine from South Africa 9€ per glass. Surprisingly the expensive red wine had completely the wrong temperature and this in a wine town of Rüdesheim! Really? I took ONLY more than 45 minutes to prepare it… than my first bite - and nothing happened! Yes, it looked crispy and had a dark red skin, but that was it - not even spicy and far away of being explosive. I bet it doesn’t matter which one you order - they all taste the same and the owner believes nobody will ever dare to order explosive chicken. Well, I did and I was more than disappointed! With the chicken I did order Rösti (Swiss baked potato) - I had 4 pieces (1€ per piece), see photo of menue. All in all I learned my lesson another time… Never ever go to a restaurant with photos of the dishes… at least not in Europe! Pity for the place, since the atmosphere was quite nice! Food zero points - complete disappointment!

Zu Ihrer Antwort… Meine Bewertung ist keineswegs ein persönlicher Angriff! Ich beschränke es mal kurz und knapp auf zwei Dinge. Ihre Schärfegrade sind völlig willkürlich und „explosiv“ ist (war bei mir) bestenfalls mittelscharf. Relativ hochwertigen Rotwein gekühlt zu servieren stimmt mich für ein Restaurant in einem Weinort zumindest mal nachdenklich!

Shockingly rude service at a tourist trap of the worst kind. Order taking took 20 minutes. Starters arrived after 1 hour. When politely asked after 90 minutes when we could expect the main course, we were lectured by the old lady waitress (possibly the owner's wife) that it was our fault because we hadn't told her that we wanted to eat soon after the starters.

Another table next to ours with the same issue were told by the same woman that they shouldn't go to a restaurant if they couldn't make enough time to wait ....

We did however wait another 20 minutes for nothing, but then had to leave. We were given the full bill, complete with another lecture why we were at fault. The pictures you see below were all we ate for well over € 100. No "sorry", not a single smile, and no concession. We left hungry and very seriously annoyed. Thus this review.

Obviously these owners have abandoned any pretense to run a professional restaurant. They rely on their location smack in the middle of the tourist area, and on reviews which, after our experience, are highly suspect.

To the rude old lady waitress: please do the world a favour and find another job. You are terrible...

The same story as my friend

This is a restaurant where it is not possible to make a right booking. We tried to make several times a booking but the first time one the crew members did not file it in their agenda. The second time we verified the appointment onsite and even showed the phone and time we called. they denied in front of us that we made a reservation but solution offered and Sunday was possible. We said 19:00 hour. Today they called and ask why we where not in at 17:00. When we tried to talk to the lady who called so was very but than very rude. Not letting the customer tell the story and total no solution offered. Very unfriendly staff and sadly not possible to try their food cause they won’t let us. If you try to make a booking onsite the crew completely ignores you and are not asking if they can help. And if you ask one of the crew straight than they respond irritated and rude. So no referrals for this restaurant at all!!
