El Chico — Restaurant in Tübingen

Putting a few Mexican decorations inside a restaurant does not mean it is a Mexican restaurant, unfortunately. We were seated quickly, even though we wanted to sit outside we were told the outside is closed (however, few minutes later people were being seated outside), service was quick, staff was nice. However, food was not good. If you are going to put something on a menu and call it an enchilada, then at least try to make it look like one. My corn tortilla enchiladas had no enchilada sauce on them, there was some cheese (con queso), they were dry. Chicken was obviously cooked loooong time ago and just reheated in a microwave, it tasted dry and under seasoned. It was served with spanish rice on the side which was extremely dry as well. So, I had dry and dry with no sauce. It would benefit greatly from some salad mix served with it. I could not eat more than a third of it, it was pretty unappetizing. Chips with dips we got for an appetizer were from a bag, not even heated to be warm, guacamole was good. Salsa is some sort of store bought salsa that tasted more like ketchup than salsa. One thing I did like a lot was their potatoes with garlicy sauce we got on a side. My margarita was ok, but not very big. All in all, I liked the location by the water and the potatoes. Everything else I would rather forget. I think it is probably a good place for students to hang out, but we paid 63 euros for the two of us and that was way too much for this type of food. Do yourself a favour and spend your money elsewhere. I was first given the wrong order which was okay, they got my actual order out about 15 minutes. The rice was half hard and cold and half fine, I guess they mixed whatever they had left over with fresh rice. The service was meh, they were hanging out at the bar for the most part even though we were a big table of more than 10 people and maybe one of three tables there. We all had empty drinks for about half an hour until someone came over but not to refill our drinks, just to ask if the food was okay. War seit Jahren das erste Mal wieder dort und hatte es wirklich in sehr positiver Erinnerung. Leider wurde ich dann so ziemlich enttäuscht. Erstmal wurde unsere Tischreservierung vergessen. Dann wartet wir über ne halbe Stunde um unsere Bestellung aufzugeben, dann kam mein Salat und der meiner Freundin, bevor jemand bei uns am Tisch überhaupt sein Getränk hatte. Alle anderen aßen etwas anderes und das kam erst später. Was aber wirklich sehr enttäuschte war mein chicken Caesar salad. Ein trauriges geschmackloses Etwas. Ich war so enttäuscht dass ich kein Foto machte. Für 14,30€ bekam ich einen kleinen Teller mit ner kleinen Hand voll Salat. Unschön tummelten sich darauf ein paar Croûtons, Bohnen, Tomaten und Gurke und ein Haufen wirklich geschmackloses Hühnchen. Als Topping gabs keine Parmesanspäne sondern Reibeparmesan. Ich liebe wirklich Ceasarsalad und bin schnell zufrieden zu stellen aber das war ein Trauerspiel. Meine Freundin und ich waren sehr enttäuscht. Auch der Rest der Gruppe bewertete unser Essen eher als mikrig und unansprechend. Die Süßkartoffelpommes mit Dip die ich dazu bestellte waren hingegen sehr lecker nur leider schon kalt. Die anderen Gerichte bei uns an Tisch sahen sehr ansprechend aus und schmeckten anscheinend sehr gut. Nach dem Essen wurde lange der Tisch nicht abgeräumt. Es wurde nie gefragt ob alles recht ist und ob das Essen geschmeckt hat. Ich hätte gern persönlich die Rückmeldung gegeben. Wir wollten dann nochmal etwas zum Trinken bestellen aber leider kam keine Servicekraft vorbei. Als wir schließlich irgendwann wieder bedient wurden, nachdem wir uns laut bemerkbar machten, wurde unsere Bestellung aufgenommen aber die Jungs aus der Bar machten erstmal Pause. So warteten wieder sehr lange (min. 25min) Wir hätten vermutlich definitiv mehr getrunken und wären länger geblieben. Waren aber wirklich sehr sehr sehr enttäuscht und ich persönlich war dort vermutlich zum letzten Mal! Zudem waren auf den Toiletten alle Handtücher und das Toilettenpapier aus.
