Die Wurstküche — Restaurant in Tübingen

If I could give a zero star, I would give this restaurant zero service. We went into this restaurant on our first night in Tübingen 01.01.2025 and this reservation was done by our hotel concierge in Tübingen. The food were great and the service was done remarkably by an older German lady with glasses. After dinner, we spoke with a younger female staff and requested to make another reservation on Friday, 03.01.2025. She came back few minutes later and confirmed it would be for Friday, 03.01.2025 for 4 persons at 18:00 (6 pm) and we will have same table. She spoke very good English and there is no misunderstanding. We were so happy and grateful. Today, we arrived at the restaurant exactly at 18:00 on 03.01.2025 and we already had bad feeling when we saw that ‘same table’ occupied by others. We were waiting for the staff and were hopeful.

The same young female staff came with a male staff, I would assume her manager or some sort. She immediately said that our reservation was for yesterday and not tonight. She was quite defensive and agitated. The manager spoke English to us and told us that no place for us and apologized for the misunderstanding but the female staff blamed me that I made the reservation for 02.01.2025 and my husband immediately mentioned not for yesterday (02.01.2025) but Friday 03.01.2025 and you (the staff) confirmed with us again. She suddenly spoke only German and can’t no longer speak English.

To me, food are great, but honesty, customer service and manners matter the most. I will not recommend it. She knew that she screwed up our reservation the moment she saw us from back of the restaurant, to point she did not willing to face us directly and brought the manager to handle the situation. Not a single apology came from her, she insisted it was our fault for mixed up dates until my husband intervened and mentioned it should be for today. We may not speak German well, but we do perfectly understand what you said in German. We of course did take our money somewhere else with better...

• Decent food, good beer and prices of beer, kind and polite service

• The beer here is pretty good and at a decent price. It goes well with their local foods, just what you want to try if visiting Tübingen. Our plate for two was very good, large and filling. Beers kept coming quickly and made the environment enjoyable.

• Unlike the rude and terrible service in Neckamüller, this place was much better. Although the whole basement section was served only by one person, she was very polite and nice, she was quick, we had our order taken without delays and never had to wait for another beer for too long.

• Even when we tried to pay, our company's cards kept having issues, despite the bank saying they should work. The waitress was relaxed and had no problem with each of us (3 people) trying their corporate card to pay with, even though all 3 were declined. That's the kind of service I expect - it may be annoying them that the card doesn't work, but politely saying it was declined is not hard to do.

On 18 August 2020, at19:00, this 85 year old very very unfriendly and grumpy, angry, skinny waiter or owner greeted us with “we usually don’t accept 2 people for a large table it’s not economical. (they don’t have small tables anyway). We were asked to fill up the Covid-19 contact tracing. We filled it up with just a number and left the address blank. We know from the German gov’t that one must only put a contact number and not email address or home address for data protection. Suddenly this grumpy angry unfriendly 85 year old man started barking to us like a mad dog for not providing the home address. So we left and promised not to come back to this restaurant with super bad and rude customer service. He just showed us what kind of a person is he - uneducated and doesn’t treat people with respect and dignity. We will not come back to this restaurant called Wurstküche. It should be called...
