At the time I am writing this, this place has a 5.0 rating which made me very curious. So I had sushi here which is what I am commenting about now. I understand this is fusion food, but I am actually just con-fused. Is this Italian Asian fusion? Because I just had a carpaccio sushi! It was literally so thin that you could see through it. A friend of mine is a sushi chef from Japan and he tells me that proper nigiri sushi should have a 60 to 40 ratio in favor of the fish towards the rice. This sushi I just had was about 90% rice and 10% fish. Not good. One extra point for friendly service and nice ambiance. But if you just want good sushi, you better look ... well, not far actually ...
PS: Understandably, the owner does not seem to like my review as he keeps editing his response. I just want to point out that I did not "stretch" any sushi for this photo (if I did, it should be at least LONGER after stretching, no!?) nor am I affiliated with any other sushi restaurants. Not even with better ones I visited and reviewed, very nearby. I just honestly write about what I see, everywhere I go - as anyone can see by the variety of my reviews - and I do not accept any bribes. I even told the manager right then and there how disappointed I was about the sushi. He then apologized and offered me a free dessert and a discount on my food - which I declined. This was clearly an admission of wrongdoing and an attempt to make up for it. My advice: From now on, just CUT BIGGER SLICES of fish and don't be so greedy! Then nobody will be able to take photos of your cheap cuts again. It is as...
Read moreBy chance we passed the Gohan Restaurant on our short trip to Constance as we knew there used to be a Chinese restaurant. Little did we know it is under new management and totally refurbished, now serving Oriental cuisine and sushi and just opened the day before! We loved the new interior design: bright, lots of wood so felt very warm and cosy even though it is a decent size room. The staff was very welcoming, we received an amuse bouche as they are celebrating their new opening and were very attentive, as my husband does not eat sushi, they served an alternative for him. Very thoughtful! The food was absolutely fabulous and quick to be served. Having said that, the place was not busy. But still. I had classic inside out rolls with tuna, salmon and tuna. Very fresh and yummy! My husband had Tom Yum soup which was lovely, too. And for mains we had a Korean beef stirfry dish (sorry, forgot the name... starting with B...) and Thai red curry with chicken. Both served with white rice. Both delicious! The owner himself came to check on us and gave recommendations, explained everything very detailed. The bill was alright, incl. a coke and a jasmin tea we paid just under €50.-. Not cheap cheap but seriously good food, totally worth it! We highly recommend you check out this new place and we wish them a really good start! Keep up the good work, we...
Read moreTerrible service! Made me change my seat 3 times. They treat white guests far better than the Asians.
