We were really looking forward to have a great steak, but unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. The wait for our food was excessively long, and when it finally arrived, things didn’t improve.
The dry-aged steak, while promising with its nutty flavour, was very poorly cooked — completely ruined what could have been the star of the meal. The sides were a total disaster, and the sauces somehow managed to be both salty and tasteless at the same time — quite an achievement.
To top it off, we were charged €39 for one of the worst desserts I’ve seen served in a restaurant in a very long time. Presentation and taste were both utterly underwhelming.
We also ran into an issue when trying to split the bill four ways — apparently, their payment system doesn’t allow it, which feels pretty outdated and frustrating in 2025.
The only redeeming aspect of the evening was the service — the ladies waiting on us were kind, professional, and 1 even spoke English (a rarity in the area, like spotting Bigfoot—at Hohentwiel Castle).
Overall, not worth the time,...
Read moreTraveling solo and on my first day abroad, I wanted to have a dinner of German style cooking just to help begin establishing roots in my temporary setting.
I ordered a salad and my entree together when the server warned me that the salad I ordered it was large. I hadn't eaten much in the last day or so due to my flight and train schedule, so I was ready to eat a fair bit.. I had a mixed green salad with seasonal dressings and vegetables tossed with it, then the salmon-zander-potato entree and finally the Apfelküchle with ice cream and other dessert sauces. It was only appropriate to enjoy a dunkel as the beverage for this meal.
The salad was crisp and fresh, both species of fish we're cooked to perfection, so tender and tasty. The apfelküchle was a perfect ending. All said and done, I ate way too much but that's a statement to how irresistible this dinner was. If you're in the area, I recommend this...
Read moreVisited for the first time with my wife impromptu. The staff who greeted us at the door was polite and found us a table on a very busy evening. We ordered a salmon with saffron rice and a rump steak. The food was nothing to write home about but the good service and warm ambience made up for it. We have since been back for a second time 2 weeks before Christmas and once again, we walked in without a reservation on a Friday evening for dessert. The staff was again very helpful and found us a little table for 2 in a corner and the dessert was delicious! We ordered the apple rings and a chocolate mousse! However, as the staff is very busy, it might take longer for them to come around when you want to pay. Alternatively, you can pay at...
