Astrofegia Restaurant — Restaurant in Alonnisos Municipality

The overall setting of the restaurant, with the beautiful view and nice atmosphere is rewarding. Unfortunately, the appetizers were bad and very expensive given their low quality. Frozen shrimps saghanaki, over cooked, for €15... The main dishes were good, in general, but small portions considering their high price tag. For example, the oven lamb came with 2 pieces of meat and 3 pieces of oven potatoes... Just wondering, would they have broken the bank if the dish is served with 5 pieces of oven potatoes? What annoyed our party the most was their insistence to pay cash, cards weren't accepted. Claiming, as an excuse, the unavailability of a POS machine, due to the bank's delay to provide it to them... How convenient !! However, we weren't told, when we first sat, of their only acceptable payment method, which ends up being an excellent way to trap people into paying cash. The owner had the audacity to suggest to us going to the nearest ATM to withdraw cash. What an unprofessional behavior. We leave it to your own discretion whether this behavior is appropriate or not... Certainly, we don't recommend it nor we...

Good places go bad, bad places go worst, an ancient wisdom that alas, applies to Astrofegia too. It is many years I spend my Summer holidays. In Alonissos, and each year pay a visit to this restaurant. Getting crowded is a result of success. Getting unpleasant too. My reservation was canceled because I was 20 mins late, was cut short by the young lady, always a gentle one all other years, telling me: you are late, we are full, if you want you can use a service table there in the corner. I left for another place. Saved in money, not sure I lost in food quality, as far as I was able to spot on other patrons dishes.

Capisco il successo ma prenotazione cancellata per breve ritardo (20 min), bruscamente trattato dalla giovane proprietaria (credo) “se proprio vuole mangiare qui si metta in quel tavolini di servizio all’angoletto”. We had a lovely meal in the very traditional (but with a modern take) and atmospheric back garden of Astrofegia restaurant, full of beautiful handmade lamps from glass bottles and plants all over.

When we arrived, there was no free table, however we were just two people, so they managed to find us something in less than 5 minutes. However, to avoid disappointment, I suggest you book, as they are a super popular place in the Old Town. Having said that, it was great how attentive staff was and how quickly we ordered and got served!

Food was excellent! We had the mixed mushrooms with an incredible sauce and the hearts of artichokes that were so mellow - vegan options. We also had a pescaterian option, the tuna salad, which is a really nice recreation of the Cretan Ntakos salad, but with Alonissos tuna instead of feta cheese.

All in all, I think it's a must and I will definitely come back (after reserving a table...
