Me and my 4 friends chose this tavern for a typical Greek lunch in Antiparos. We ordered the octopus (the vinegar and the grilled one), a grilled squid, a couple of fries plates and meat balls with red sauce. With our surprise the dishes arrived all in different moments. A difference of 10-15 minutes from my friends’ dishes and mine it’s too much. If I go to a restaurant I like to eat with who I’m seated with… We need to talk about the prices, we are in Greece…my friend ordered an octopus with vinegar which didn’t taste like vinegar, consisted in a small plate with some chunks of octopus for a total of 15,50 €… I mean it was tender and tasted nice but not worth the price. The grilled octopus and the squid that I ordered tasted really good, just a bit too chewy but still very good. The only thing that doesn’t really look good to me is still the price…16 euros for two grilled tentacles and a tomato it’s just disappointing. The service was good, not exceptional but still good, they tried to make us pay for the bread we didn’t eat (5 euros), but as soon as we told the waiter he managed to recalculate the bill, which we appreciated. We unfortunately don’t recommend this place…I would go for something more...

If Poseidon had a favorite hangout, it would 100% be Mapakas. The fish here is so fresh I swear one of the sardines gave me side-eye before it hit the grill.
We ordered the grilled octopus, and let me tell you—it was so tender I almost apologized before eating it. The shrimp saganaki came swimming in tomato and feta like it was living its best Mediterranean retirement plan. And the catch of the day? Straight out of the sea, onto the grill, and into my mouth faster than you can say “Opa!”
The staff is part-waiter, part-seafood hypnotist. One guy described the fish so passionately I half expected him to pull out a violin and play Zorba’s Dance while I ordered.
By the time dessert came, I was too full to function, but somehow still said yes to the yogurt with honey because Greek yogurt here isn’t food—it’s a religious experience.
If you’re in Antiparos and don’t eat here, are you even on vacation? Or did you just come for Instagram pics of donkeys and sunsets?
10/10 would let Mapakas ruin my...
Read moreWe visited Mpakas Fish Tavern on the 5th of September during a boat trip, stopping at this charming bay for lunch. We were two people, and everything we tasted was truly outstanding. The fish is extremely fresh, and every dish was prepared with care.
The homemade French fries were delicious, and the octopus with vinegar sauce as a cold starter was one of a kind — tender, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The fried baby calamari were also excellent: crispy, light, not oily at all, and cooked just right. As a main dish, we had red mullets, and their size, freshness, and taste were remarkable — fried to perfection and simply delicious.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere was equally memorable. The team welcomed us warmly with smiles, and service was always attentive and on time. The taverna is right beside the more famous Pipinos, but this place is an absolute gem. We were lucky to get a table, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. All the seafood here is truly fresh and cooked...
