We've had dinner twice here. We came back because we where graving sushi. We gave 3 stars because of the pricing, and some of the staff was sadly not that friendly.. the persons that seated us and take the orders where very nice. The people that gave us our drinks and food, could bearley look at us, let alone smile.
First night we started with one sushi role to share. After waiting for 30 minutes they came to our neighbours table (on the otherside then ours) we saw our order, it wasn't theirs, so they said. Then he asked the table next to our neighbours. Meanwhile we're calling him, holding our hand up because it was ours. ( there were only 3 tables over there) but then never looked at us and walked it back to the kitchen. Then about 20 minutes or so we got our sushi roll (8 pc.). We already finished our drinks at that time, but he put it down so fast and didn't look, and went back. None of the waiters looked at us, so we couldn't ask for drinks. When the main course arrived we finally got a chance for new drinks, we tought. We had to ask 3 ppl the menu, but it never came.
Ultimately the food was very good, so good we wanted to come back for the sushi few days later. And we can understand not everyone stays friendly or things could go wrong if it's very busy and hot.
But the second time was the same, with the same waiters. So that's why service gets less stars for us. (We where just thirsty) The food, again very good! The place: very beatiful!! It's a bit more expensive in comparison to the other places in Skala.
Edit respond: first of all we don't want the waiters to have whole conversations, but us calling that it's ours order, or us having to ask for drinks is the least. We asked 3 people ('the floor managers' then we asume) the menu for another cocktail, it sadly never came, so we tried with the waiters. We had only 1 drink, we were excited to try several cocktails.
We already said that we understood things can't go smoothly in peak ours. But two nights dinner, and two times only 1 drink for the night. So excuse us for trying to make some of contact whith everybody on the floor so we could ask/get the menu for another drink. Stil had amazing food, nothing to complain about that. Saying we did not eat anywhere else on vacation is weird. Hopes this was enough...
Read moreAmmos beach bar looks quite fancy and definitely brings you tulum vibes with the decor. It's fairly spacious and offers comfortable suiting as well, so you definitely can spend some time there and chill.
Food:
We had shrimp tempura roles and tuna as a starter. Followed by chicken bowl without blue cheese and the chicken buratta. The sushi looked great and was overall okay. The soya sauce tasted a bit like nothing and the wasabi was more like a cream rather than a paste. However, the chicken bowl was fantastic with fresh vegatable, good olive oil and juicy chicken.
Service:
I was a bit disappointed as the waiters were not really friendly. It felt like they are a bit bothered by tourists and weren't very welcoming at all. (very unusual for Greece) Moreover, the waiters serving at our table were quite rude to each other. The sushi we order was brought to the table next to us and after the misunderstanding was cleared the waiter literally had a go at his colleague for misguiding him to the wrong table. (It wasn't a big issue and misunderstandings can happen) Furthermore, one of the waiters screamed at a guest across the tables as it appeared that he wanted to go to the beach, which is across the street. The beach bar offers sun beds directly at the beach and therefore, don't want guest to be wet inside the bar. That is totally fair, but I think it could have been handled better than shouting across tables in all fairness.
Overall, its a pretty place with good food as well. By far the nicest beach bar in the area. However, with a the service being a touch friendlier I think the experience would generally be a...
Read moreAs a solo female traveler, I visited Ammos Beach Bar around 9 PM, hoping to enjoy a light meal and a cocktail in a friendly setting. Despite several small and big tables being visibly unoccupied, the staff directed me to a spot in the darkest corner of the restaurant, far removed from other diners stating the other tables are just for full dinner. This arrangement felt incredibly isolating and unwelcoming, especially for a single guest.
When I expressed my discomfort with the seating and suggested I might be better off dining elsewhere, the response was dismissive: "It's your choice." Such indifference to guest comfort and preference was disappointing. I expected much better hospitality and consideration, particularly in an establishment that had plenty of better seating options available.
Unfortunately, due to this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant to solo travelers or anyone seeking a warm and inviting dining atmosphere.
REPLY to owner: That is absolutely not true. The waiter told me at least 3 times!!! that the tables are free but I can have it just if I have a full meal. And I didn't insist on any special table, just wanted to be on the terrasse like all the other guests!!! Your reply just shows how your treat customers.
The waiter told me at least 3 times!!! that the tables are just for people having full meal and he definitely told me they are free, also a lot of tables in the drinks area were free, didn't see anyone waiting. You don't even hesitate to lie and making things up instead of simply apologising for this...
