Kritikos has become a cherished favorite of ours, and we’ve returned time and time again—it never disappoints! This restaurant truly stands out as one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Greece. The food is nothing short of exceptional, crafted with the freshest, highest-quality ingredients and prepared with incredible skill. Each dish is a masterpiece, bursting with authentic flavors that showcase the best of Greek cuisine. From the succulent seafood, cooked to perfection, to the expertly grilled meats and traditional specialties like moussaka and pastitsio, every bite is a celebration of taste and tradition.
What makes Kritikos even more special is the impeccable service. The staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making you feel like part of the family. They go above and beyond to ensure your dining experience is memorable, whether it’s recommending dishes, explaining the ingredients, or simply sharing a friendly conversation.
The atmosphere is equally delightful—cozy, inviting, and full of charm. Whether you’re seated indoors surrounded by rustic decor or outdoors enjoying the fresh air, the setting is perfect for a relaxed meal with loved ones.
If you’re visiting Ouranoupoli for the first time or returning like we do, Kritikos is an absolute must-visit. It’s more than just a meal; it’s an experience that captures the heart and soul of Greek hospitality. We can’t wait to return, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable...
Read moreBefore it became a gallery/boutique/patisserie/ resto, this used to be a good-old classic fish tavern. Nowadays, it has turned into a modern fusion that aspires to the exclusivity of high-end wallets. Undoubtedly the lounge atmosphere of the setting and the nice music create good vibes but you’re there also to eat. I was disappointed by the fava cold starter, and the lack of scales to weigh on the fish I had picked up for our dinner. Apparently, they do not do this anymore at the front stand but only in the kitchen, and so the waiter offered to give me an estimate of its weight based on his experience! I was also stunned by the extend of deep-frozen seafood on several dishes (see menu with lots of asterisks). Back to our main, although perfectly grilled, juicy and tasty, the fish we got was not locally fished nor was the crayfish, but we were “reassured” they came from somewhere in the Aegean Sea. As a side dish we took the baked veggies for 2 people at a charge of €8,5 which is overpriced. On the bright side of things, I loved the green salad with crab and citrus vinaigrette as well as the house bottled rosé wine. We were offered wet scented towels to clean ourselves -which is always a nice touch at the end of a meal- and some watermelon on the house. The staff was polite and attentive. Not sure if I were to return as the line of getting ripped off and having a good dinner was...
Read moreLegendary Taste of Greece – Kritikos Restaurant We first heard about Kritikos from local residents — people from completely different walks of life, yet united in one opinion: this place is legendary. And they were absolutely right.
This is a three-generation family restaurant, with the owner’s grandmother — now over 90 years old — still working in the kitchen. The result is authentic, incredibly flavorful Greek food made with love and tradition. I simply couldn’t stop eating!
A special thank you to our fellow countryman Maksim, who made both of our dinners here truly unforgettable. Even our Greek friends commented on the exceptional quality and service.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the menu is a celebration of Greece’s finest flavors. Be sure to try the fresh fish, oysters, cuttlefish ink risotto, crab salad, and of course the Greek salad with zucchini fritters. I may not know all the Greek names for these dishes, but rest assured — they will understand exactly what you want, even if you just point!
This is a place you will want to return to again and again. A true culinary treasure of Halkidiki....
