My dining experience at Mare Restaurant in Ouranopoli was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance that perfectly captures the essence of the Greek seaside.

Mediocre food with abysmal service.

Entrees were served as they were cooked, which meant a good 20 minutes between when the first entree arrived and the last (we were only a table of 3).

Impossible to get the attention of the wait staff, nor did they ever check on us.

Risotto with chicken contained cubes of overcooked breast.

“Spaghetti with fresh tomatoes” was spaghetti with a tomato cream sauce and no fresh tomatoes.

Souvlaki was tough.

The only thing we enjoyed was the “zucchini balls,” which were really zucchini fritters.

Thanks to the fritters and one young man who was not our server, but was the nicest to us, I give them 2 stars.

Would advise giving this place...

A rare 3 x 5 stars. We were wondering how a place can average 4.9 and after tonight’s dinner we understand- and agree! The lady running the place is awesome - welcoming, wonderful and super-competent. Her team and colleagues just the same. We had fantastic seafood linguine, a grilled fish (they were fine with me filleting it myself - nice touch) and a Bolognese for the little one (half portion - huge!). All perfectly cooked and delicious. Wines reasonably priced, and even the house white absolutely fine. Delicious Greek desserts which we finished even though we were so full. We’ll be back...
