We visited Pura vida on an extremely hungover morning looking for some salvation from our shared dismay. Initially all was sound but the problems started with the coffee, which was delicious, we ordered five coffees and only received four; when asked we were told the fifth was on its way. It never arrived. after we had enjoyed our delectable coffee the waitress (a young woman with glasses) came to our table and told us we had to pay for the coffees as she was about to clock off. Now, i'm not sure if it was an issue of limited english however I will repeat her words verbatim "pay me now because i'm about to leave then order your food with her" she then requested we pay inside instead of bringing the PORTABLE card reader to our table. To top it all off the waitress didn't even leave for another hour and served multiple tables in that time. Sadly the problems with service only continued.
Once we had paid for our drinks and finally were able to order our food, the new waitress was very judgemental when the girls ordered a pizza each telling us that they had to be shared as they were eight slices. They were very averagely sized. Once we had dealt with the judgemental waitress the first two plates arrived. I could say it was terrible and try to scare you away but I won't because the food was actually quite nice (even though the burger we ordered arrived cold). However that doesn't make up for the 45 minute wait between the first plate being put on the table to the last. During this time we had much time to think about the terrible service and watch one of the waiters go out the back and come back with some shop bought pizza base. Once we'd finished our average meal with a side of terrible service we asked for a refund or even just a discount on the never arriving pizza and cold burger which was promptly refused without negotiation.
I have spent a good few years working in restaurants so I understand that sometimes these things just happen but I cannot fathom this terrible service. I'm not sure if they just had a problem with tourists that I would understand. However, if i'm a paying customer I would at least expect you to keep it in and not make it my problem. In conclusion I would not suggest Pura Vida. Just don't...
Read moreVisited Pura Vida because of the reviews. Nice atmosphere, mostly kind staff.
Our order (2 breakfast dishes, one of them was omelette) was served to our table after 70 minutes. Funny part is, our order came out from the kitchen after 40 minutes, but it waited under the stairs (not sure why they moved it there) for 30 minutes. Of course, when it came to our table, it was cold.
And yep, we kindly asked if there was an issue with our order after we saw first saw it, and they said “we have a lot of orders, I don’t know when it’ll be here, I’m not in kitchen”.
We were in a hurry, so we had to leave without eating them.
Omelette was fluffy, which is a good indication that they beat it pretty good, 9/10. Pancake was pretty cold and it was about to get dry. It did not have any taste, so without toppings, you won’t taste anything (or at least I did not taste...
