I read all the positive reviews and I thought I would give this a try. This was a mistake.
Attended late afternoon on a Sunday. I ordered a platter of mixed meat for 5 people. In it was chicken souvlaki, pork souvlaki, loukaniko, Bifteki and lamb chops.
Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed in the food. It just didn't taste as fresh and a lot of it was burnt and overcooked. The Loukanika in particular were rock hard.
Even though we requested a mixed platter for 5 people, there was only 3 skewers of the pork Souvlaki and 3 pieces Loukanika. The lamb chops also had hardly any meat on them. There was not enough for 5 people. It was drizzled with a few chips but these were quite scarce. We were lucky to get about 6 chips each. When I saw the platter I thought they would bring out another dish with more meats but they didn't.
We ordered Tzaziki, Tirokafteri, spinach and Greek Salad but again small portions. On the Greek salad, instead of one whole piece of Feta, there were 3 small strips. There were only 4 olives in the salad. This was also a small bowl of Greek salad.
Unfortunately everyone in my party was still hungry after the meal. To add insult to injury when I paid by card, waiter said I entered my pin incorrectly. He said to do it again. I trusted him and did it again. I left and a couple of days later and I checked my card, woah and behold they have charged me twice. The bank advised me to raise a dispute however I think the owner has noticed that they charged me twice and I am awaiting the credit to be confirmed by the bank. I'll stick to the restaurant across the road who was more generous with portions.
In a nutshell, this place is great for views but I don't rate food particularly highly and portions were small. If you go, don't pay by card and don't go late in the afternoon as you are likely to get burnt pieces. On the plus, complimentary mini chocolate ice-cream and the corn table bread is...
Read moreTaverna Charikleios is the perfect place to dine if you happen to be in Pieria. The Tavern is family owned and a lot of pride has been taken in making your dining experience unforgettable. There is a variety of meats on the menu which is chargrilled to perfection. The salads and dips are delicious and fresh. Add a carafe of house wine or a tsipouro which will surely warm your heart. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful with the Castle of Platamona and Mt. Olympus in full view of all diners. I can assure you that you will want to come back again and...

They also served us probably the most delicious tasting bread I have ever tried. On top of it all, the view is amazing as well, you can see the sea and the beautiful castle on the hill in front. Keep up...
