#CeliacReviews: I honestly don’t know how to express what a wonderful experience this was as someone who must eat gluten-free due to celiac disease. Not only was the food wonderful, the service was otherworldly! Our waiter informed the kitchen of my needs, and we got a special diet menu (vegetarian, vegan, GF). There was such a wide selection, we had trouble choosing. In the end we got…
🥗 Salad with tomato, feta cream, sea fennel 🍛 Risotto with mince and avgolemono soup (you mix yourself) 🐟 Sea bass with spinach 🍷🍷 Two recommended wines that went perfectly with the flavors 🥐 Gluten-free bread from Artokrátoras (local bakery) that was so good I was afraid it was not GF, with fava paste flavored with orange
This was the type of experience that you keep thinking, it can’t get better than this, but it does.
The staff were perfect- they are a model for what other restaurants serving GF food should be. Each time they brought something to the table, they reassured it me it was gluten-free. I felt incredibly taken care of and I didn’t have any reaction to the food.
The restaurant is spacious with super comfy chairs and intimate low lighting. I was surprised yet delighted to hear some of my favorite indie rock on the radio - did they read my mind?
Overall? They call it “creative Greek cuisine” and that is absolutely true. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, whether you are celiac or not. Service and quality were an insane value for the price. I might move to Greece so I can come here...
Read moreWe were absolutely pampered!
Flavors, dishes, service, everything was top notch!!!! Cannot wait to come back!
We were looking for a spot for dinner before catching our flight back home, boy were we happy that we wandered into To Manitari. We even made the odd request of having all dishes arrive at the same time as we felt we could be short on time, something they kindly obliged. We had the tuna tartar, octopus and the fish. We’ve been having octopus everyday since we’d been in Thessaloniki and their octopus is simply the best by a country mile, the caramelized onion sauce was the perfect pairing. The fish was also out of this world, you could taste the freshness of the ocean (thanks to the clever use of seaweed/kelp) without all the fishiness. They even comped us with a wonderful brownie dessert as the cherry on top.
The place might be a bit far away from the touristic center of Thessaloniki, but it’s well worth the quick bus (20ish min) or taxi ride here. There’s a glass elevator that takes you up to the second floor where the restaurant is.
Our only regret is being in a bit of rush that we couldn’t savor everything dish by dish, something that we’re looking to remedy in...
Read moreMost delicious food I have eaten in a very long time..I ate there first last night (beef steak with potato gnocchi). The staff were all genuinely friendly and considerate of my dietary needs as I mentioned I don’t eat gluten. When I returned tonight the waiter even remembered that I don’t eat gluten, which was very nice!
The interior is beautiful and exudes fine dining ambiance. The menu is also elegantly presented with excellent flavour combinations. Plating is of Michelin star restaurant standards. You get a fine dining experience for the price of taverna food! I enjoyed the vibe so much I returned again tonight and had delicious sea bass with parsnip puree with bergamot sauce.
Highly recommend to everyone, perfect for friends or first dates dinners. I travelled from the centre of Thessaloniki and believe it’s worth the 10 minute drive as many restaurants in centre are not as good quality as...
