Restaurant Xenaki — Restaurant in Kassandra Municipality

The picture speaks for itself. The steak looked like it had been run over a few times… I do not intend to be rude, but I could have cooked a better steak. This was supposed to be an expensive fillet, but it was soft and wet, with no crust. You’re meant to leave the meat to sear and rest.

Also why did it come with A SPOON instead of a steak knife?!?!

The menu said ‘oven cooked potatoes’ - but instead I got a single, small baked potato, with mayonnaise between it - what an odd choice?!

The waiter, who was friendly, forgot my fiancée’s dish, and when it did come (20 minutes) later they had gotten the order wrong. The roasted vegetables we ordered to share were cold by then.

You couldn’t make it up!

The waiters did what they could to fix it, but it was too late. When we went to pay the bill they had the audacity to ask for the full bill, including the chicken they said was on the house. We didn’t eat half of it…

After a week of searching for a proper, traditional Greek, family-run restaurant — we found an absolute gem.

Xenaki Greek Restaurant delivered on every level: warm, welcoming service, food packed with flavour, and a relaxing atmosphere that made us feel right at home.

My wife had the salmon and I went for the calamari — both cooked perfectly and full of flavour. Fresh, authentic, and beautifully presented without trying too hard.

The real star of the evening? Their house white wine (Malagouzia 2024). Crisp, clean, and hands down one of the best local wines we’ve tasted in Greece. We came in for a glass… and ended up polishing off the bottle!

This isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a proper experience. If you’re in Chaniotis and want great food, great wine, and proper Greek hospitality, Xenaki is the place to go.

Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience at this restaurant. Mistakes can happen but it comes to a point where they just ruin the whole experience and evening. So we asked for english menus and got russian, then the waiter didn't understand our orders and acted like he did, and then we had to wait too long for the appetizers and got them only after we drew attention and getting asked again what we ordered. then we got the same appetizer twice. i asked for rice with my fish and got poatoes instead. The food itself was just as disappointing as my fish was very salty. at the end we asked to pay separately and apparently this was just too complicated for the crew to manage. after too much give and take i just asked to pay the whole bill for everyone and went on our way....
