I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mastelo in Katouna, Lefkada, not just once, but twice in the span of four days – it was that good!
Nestled in the charming village, the restaurant offers a perfect blend of traditional Greek cuisine with a modern twist. From the moment we arrived, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home.
The food was exceptional – every dish was prepared with fresh, local ingredients and beautifully presented. I highly recommend the grilled sausage and chicken thigh. The sausage was perfectly spiced, juicy, and bursting with flavor, while the chicken thigh was tender, with a deliciously smoky char that added to its richness. The lentil dish was also a standout—hearty, wholesome, and full of earthy flavors. The fresh tomato salad was vibrant and refreshing, balancing the meal with its sweetness, and the roasted cauliflower dish offered a delightful texture and subtle nuttiness. We also had the tzatziki with bread and baked cheesecake, all incredibly yummy. I think we ordered too much food! 😄
What truly sets Mastelo apart is the attention to detail and the impeccable service. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to provide recommendations. We felt truly taken care of throughout both visits.

Read moreWe had dinner tonight at MASTELO Restaurant & Bar in Lefkada, and it was an experience we will not soon forget. From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcome. The service was truly outstanding – so attentive, courteous, and professional that it felt almost un-Greek (and we mean that as a huge compliment). The staff was always present when needed, without ever being intrusive, radiating genuine hospitality.
The ambiance was equally remarkable. There was a serene calm and an elegant atmosphere that allowed us to fully relax. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and everything is taken care of down to the smallest detail.
And then the food… it was simply phenomenal. For the main course, we had, among other dishes, the ribeye, which was sublime: incredibly tender, perfectly cooked, and rich in flavor. Every bite was a pleasure. The niokos was also surprisingly refined and absolutely delicious – a dish you don’t easily find prepared so well.
To finish, we both chose the baklava rolls with red sorbet ice cream. The balance of flavors in this dessert was perfect: the crunchy, sweet baklava combined beautifully with the fresh, fruity notes of the sorbet. A wonderful ending to an unforgettable meal.
In short: at Mastelo, everything is just right. The exceptional service, the relaxing atmosphere, and the top-quality food make this restaurant an absolute must for anyone wanting to dine in style on Lefkada. We will definitely be coming...
Read moreWe came back to Mastelo for the second time because our first visit was absolutely perfect — and I can honestly say this time was even better. The waiter recognized us, led us to our table, remembered what we had last time, and while serving us prosecco, suggested the dish of the day. We decided instead to go for their squid, which was incredibly tender, served in an orange-colored sauce with herbs and chive oil.
Next, we had a beetroot salad with burrata and pistachios — beautifully seasoned, with the deep flavor of the beetroot perfectly paired with the delicate burrata and crunchy pistachios. Our other main dish was lobster pasta — truly magical, the pasta cooked perfectly al dente, with flavors that were pure pleasure.
Of course, the “greeting from the chef” was there again — a small zucchini croquette. When we finished dinner, of course we couldn’t resist trying dessert. This time we went for their (deconstructed, totally unique) baklava. It came as little rolls that looked a lot like Italian cannoli, filled with a delicate cream, served with a red fruit sauce, sorbet, and crispy crumbs. Omg — so light, crunchy, and summery! The cherry on top was when the owner himself came over to thank us for visiting again and to show how much they appreciate it. We ended with a digestif, on the house.
A wonderful experience for anyone who loves dining out — these people really know what they’re doing. Absolutely...
