We are staying a little way out of town, so selected this establishment for an evening visit, based on the reviews and photos here in Google Maps. We made the correct call!
Although the restaurant was quiet when we visited, early on a Wednesday evening, the waiters were keen and friendly, seating us at a good outside table to our preference.
Service was brisk and efficient without being pushy. Our drinks arrived quickly along with a small complimentary starter of gigantes, salami, cucumber and grated carrot. A nice touch.
Draft Alfa is available also bottled Amstel "Free" (I was driving). Local Rose wine also available by glass or bottle.
We'd seen photos and reviews of the seafood platter here and thought we'd give it a go. There are two options, small and large. The waiter explained that the large is exactly twice the size of the small, though less than twice the price. We went for the "large" as a sharing platter; again a very good call, it was ideal for a hungry couple.
The platter arrived after around 10+ minutes which indicated that it had been freshly prepared for us. A good sign.
It was absolutely delicious. The octopus was possibly the best we've ever tasted, extremely tender, juicy and with a wonderful flavour. The calamari, prawns and mussels were also great, all cooked to perfection.
The chips, which were burried under the ample seafood, remained crispy and tasty to the end of our genuine feast. The pitta bread too was fresh, scattered around the edge of the platter.
We were given a complimentary creamy Greek dessert, another nice touch by the friendly staff. We finished our meal with proper Greek coffee.
We would highly recommend this restaurant for any seafood lovers. We came away feeling very happy. Great food, good value and...
Read moreWe chose Antivaro based on the reviews and were very glad we did so. In a street just between the main street and the sea promade lies this small cosy restaurant. We spend the whole day outside and have gotten quite hungry so we decided to have several appetizers to try as many dishes as possible. The rocket salad was amazing and came in an edible crust made of melted cheese! It was balanced well and the cheese added a nice crunch to it :) Next we ordered the feta baked in phylo in honey and it was divine - still warm, oozy with the honey and topped off with pistachios. We had the similar dish several times in Greece but this one must have been one of the best 👌 We also got the crab patties - I've personally never had any so why not try them now. They were very well balanced with the crab meat, soft on the inside and crunchy outside and full of dill. We really enjoyed them, although they tasted a bit better with the accompanying sauce than on their own. As the main dish we chose the seafood platter for two - our eyes were hungrier than us :D but it looked bigger than it was. The shrimps were amazing, grilled octopus was very nice, the fried squid was ok - we could taste the oil a bit but still the dish was very enjoyable and the home made potatoes were a nice touch and really good. The restaurant itself was very pretty, in a quiet area, nice service and we also got a small entre after ordering - really tasty chicken pieces with cucumber. Overall it was an amazing experience and I will definitely recommend them further! With affordable prices, this restaurant is a must visit...

My personal favorite is the gyro platter, which comes with a generous portion of succulent meat, perfectly seasoned fries, and a crisp Greek salad. Every bite is an explosion of flavor, and I always leave feeling completely satisfied.
The dessert menu is just as impressive as the main menu, with indulgent options like baklava and loukoumades. And don't even get me started on the wine list - it's extensive and features some of the best Greek wines I've ever tasted.
