I regret to share my deeply disappointing encounter at this recently visited restaurant. The establishment's service was abysmal, exhibiting a complete lack of warmth and hospitality. Despite the entire outer section being reserved, the restaurant receptionist advised us to wait inside until a table outside became available. Regrettably, this meant enduring a staggering hour-long ordeal, during which we were compelled to switch tables twice due to the owner's revelation that even the interior seating was reserved.
Finally, at the stroke of 11:20 PM, after an hour of discomfort within the sweltering confines of the establishment, we were permitted to occupy a table outside. It is worth noting that we had clearly conveyed to the receptionist who directed us to this particular table that we were solely interested in beverages and had no intention of ordering food. However, once we were asked to order and told the waiter that we would not order food, he proceeded to inquire, "Does Mr. Kostas know about it?" as if we were expected to be familiar with the mentioned individual, presumably their superior.
After consulting his superior, the waiter was instructed to request us to leave AT 11:30 PM, under the assumption that we had arrived for a meal. The sheer audacity of this assumption baffles me, as who would conceivably opt for a dining experience at such a late hour? Furthermore, even if someone had desired a meal, it is essential to note that we intended to spend a considerable sum on beverages alone. In light of this unwelcome treatment, we promptly left the place.
This incident exemplifies the typical behavior one might expect from a typical Greek restaurant owner, leaving me with an overwhelmingly negative impression of the business. I rate this experience with a resounding...
Read moreI'm changing my 5 star rating, from 5 years ago, to 2 stars. I've been to Paladar quite a few times over the years and I always found it to be pleasant and special. But last time I was there with my husband on the 28th of October, which is also our wedding anniversary, we were extremely disappointed. There were many free tables, so not that many people to cover, yet our server was cold and not very welcoming. There were about 5 rather unimaginative vegetarian options, one of which contained fish! (That's for pescetarians) On the menu, it said some of the dishes could be altered to be vegetarian and when I asked the waiter which ones, he just kept pointing at the options and saying these are the choices. When I repeated what it said on the menu, he again just pointed to the menu. He was impatient and obviously had more important things to do. Finally, I was able to order a chicken salad, but I asked the server if the chicken and cheese (I don't eat dairy) could be put on a side plate, and he agreed. The other server didn't bring our drinks, and we had to remind her twice. When the salad finally did arrive, of course, the chicken and cheese were in the salad. I reminded the server about not putting the chicken in the salad, and he just rolled his eyes as if I was being difficult and took it back.
There were a few groups of customers that the staff obviously knew, and they were laughing and socialising with them. We felt ignored and alienated. What I didn't like at all, was that nearly all the customers sitting at the bar were SMOKING, even someone who worked at Paladar. My husband and I decided we wouldn't go there again, sure they won't miss us, but we won't miss their terrible service either. The salad was very good btw, as was my husband's food, so shout out...
Read moreUnfortunately I have to rate it with a few stars and the reason is this. 18:00 in the afternoon we were informed that we had to leave the place where we were sitting (on the tables above the sunbeds on the beach) because they were going to turn it into a restaurant. So far, we didn't mind the fact that we hadn't been informed beforehand that at 18:00 we would have to leave the place. The negative thing was that while we informed the girl at the sunbeds that we were told that we had to leave from above and that we would use the sunbeds for 15 - 20' to dry off from the sea to leave, she asked us to pay 15€ for the sunbeds to use them. Unacceptable!!!! Both for the fact that 18:00 there were several empty sunbeds and it was not peak time to serve people waiting, and the fact that the sunbeds were tolerated in the shop we had already paid for the things we had consumed in the area with the...
