This Taverna is located in idilic cove close to Vathy. We arrived here as part of a busy flotilla with 17 boats.
Service was efficient and food was basic and a bit mean for portion size, well a lot mean actually. 3 x Prawns in a prawn saganaki for main…tut tut.
Prices were above average for the region, quality and quantity specifically were below par, combining to suggest the owner is putting profit before customer experience.
Service was good, but far from friendly and the bill could not be paid by card or by electronic means, (unapologetically). There may well be bad WiFi connection, but I’m not buying that!
Upon leaving we were presented with a bill for 4 people of €240 Euro, for afternoon drinks and a basic evening meal, a lot of cash to part with for basic fayre.
Not detracting from the location, it is beautiful and clean and efficient, but failed to meet expectation.
We would go back again, for the location, knowing what to expect we would have a drink on the boat to avoid overcharging for drinks and a snack on board...
Read moreReally I can't recommend this waterfront restaurant enough. Well, upon arrival the staff helped us tie up our boat, but we weren't even on the shore yet and the gentleman was already asking us what we would like to drink. I told him that he could certainly see that we had a boy with crutches with us, that everyone must be on shore first, and then we would certainly choose something. I answered him that we weren't even seated at the table yet and I hadn't seen the food and drink menu at all. He left us, but when I wanted to order, the waiter kept me waiting for quarter of an hour, then I went to the bar and reminded the waiter that we were there waiting for my order. Anyway, the price for grilled octopus was on the menu for 15 euros, I was charged 16. I know, one Euro ONLY, but if the staff is really not doing well the job, even...
Read moreMy partner and I have been fortunate enough to eat at Karnagio a number of times and can’t recommend it enough. Every detail here has been carefully considered, the menu is excellent, the property is beautifully maintained and immaculately clean, the beach bar is the perfect place to relax and the facilities are excellent. This is one of the only restaurants I’ve seen in the Ionians to do lamb kleftiko, which is absolutely delicious. Their lamb chop and pork are also outstanding, as are their meat free options - eggplant salad and bean salad with feta are superb. The wine list is also very impressive, with a well considered selection including local Greek varietals. I highly recommend both the Santo and the Angels Wings. Thanks to Alex for being such a fantastic host whenever...
