One of the best sand beaches on Aegina island. Clear water, sandy seabed, no sea urchins :) Even if you're not a good swimmer, you can still enjoy a safe splashing. The view is amazing, with Perdika on the left, Moni island in the middle and pink-red-purple-violet shades in the sky at the sunset. There's a beach bar too, where you can also have lunch at your sunbed or on their terrace, when it's too hot, around 1 - 2 PM. Marathonas (this is the name of the village) is reachable by bus from Aegina Town or Perdika. The price for a 2 way ticket either from Aegina Town or Perdika to Marathonas is 3.20 euro and if you want to stay later on the beach, you can call for a taxi, wich costs about 10 euro - one way back to Aegina Town. The beach is suitable for children too, so if crying babies annoy you, maybe you should take this into account :) Long story short, a must see (and swim) beach on...
Read moreWe’ve been coming to this place often this summer, mainly for its convenience, great atmosphere and the kids friendly sandy beach. We’ve always ordered the same things - one coffee, one other drink, two kids juices and an umbrella with two sun beds, which cost about €29-30. However, when we did the exact same thing yesterday, the total came out to be €42. When the Greek person in our party questioned about it, that’s when the server cheekily realised that he’s charged us extra food items we didn’t order. Please be vigilant and always ask for an itemised invoice and pay with card so they have to...
Read moreATTENTION, cheeky tourist rip-off. After jogging, we wanted to sit down on the beach for a freddo cappuccino. When we went to pay, we were suddenly told that the sun loungers cost €13. The chalkboard sign on which it was written was only put up by the staff after the fact and arbitrarily fixed. Last but not least, not a word was lost that the loungers cost money. When discussing it, the staff insisted on the daily rate, even though we hadn't even been in the bar for 20 minutes. The whole beach section with many smaller and nicer bars is basically free, so I can't recommend this cheeky and unsympathetic rip-off place to anyone and advise every tourist...
