Faros — Restaurant in Municipality of Aegina

Unfortunately there isn't a zero star option, so I am forced to give a 1. This place is a disgrace. The location is excellent but that's about it. Service is a joke, food is disgusting, bordering on the inedible and adding insult to injury, it is expensive too. Let me get into the -gory- details: The cutlery was dirty. The grilled octopus was boiled and then grilled, the result creamy and emetic. The French fries were the prefabricated frozen type, which I thought had disappeared in the late 80s. The fried calamari stunk and had an acrid taste because of the valvoline they fried them in. The fried zucchini, drenched in used gearbox oil were even worse. Without doubt the worst I have ever eaten in my 54 years. We asked for fresh fish, the water said that the other waiter responsible will come and tell us about fish, we asked a second and a third time and we are still waiting... Tavernas like this one are fortunately becoming rare these days as the quality of food has greatly improved in Greece. Make yourself a favour and avoid Faros...

Amazing view and places to sit right at the sea. Unfortunately this great potential gets lost due to bad service and a dirty, unprofessional appearance of the restaurant. The table cloths are full of dirt, one can identify different kinds of food indicating that a hilarious amount of people must have eaten there.. especially considering that they cover it with a plastic foil before you eat ( without that I would have left the place). Cuttlery a little bit sticky to touch, food kind of average. Small portions for average-high prices. Frozen French fries..food is served with great delay, some plates come after 10 minutes, others after 40. The service staff forgot several times parts of the order, nobody came to ask for anything, we tried to order additional things but failed . One star for the amazing location and 2 more for the food, that was nothing impressive but edible. The chips were frozen and the fava and stuffed wine leaves canned, so we did not order those. What we had was OK for a cheap fast food perhaps, not good for a greek tavern. However, after reading previous reviews, have to say that we got a receipt and it was accurate.
