Kaliva — Restaurant in Municipality of Aegina

Had dinner there on August 4, 2025. Had stopped over to Agia Marina port with my boat for 1 night and looked at google reviews to find a decent place to eat by the sea. I have been mislead before by Google reviews on restaurants posted by people who give high ratings to places that do not deserve more than 1/5. We gave our order and the first dish and second dish arrive before the cuttlery !! Taramosalata was a total disgrace !! Salty with lot of ...dill in it !! Dill in taramosalata ... unbelievable ! This aside it was not edible due to being so salty and so fishy. I was served before mediocre taramosalata but this certainly would win the Guiness record for the worst version ever. (left uneaten) Then came the anchovies (gavros) in vinegar . My God this Greek signature plate was also assassinated. Obviously was from a tin preserve, with no trace of vinegar and lot of ...salt again ! (left uneaten too) Then the salad came. A special, they say in the menu, Aigina salad with pistachios from the island. The green salad was literrally swimming in a soup of dressing and all leaves were soaked in the dressing. (left half eaten) The calamari was totally dehydrated and left half eaten. In the end we eated just some fried anchovies and fava beans !! Nobody asked if we wer happy, they made no comment on the food left uneaten and paid roughly 100 EUROS for 3 people !! The only positive was a table by the sea. But we could enjoy having just a beer...

Our day at Kaliva Beach was pure bliss. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles and guided to the VIP sunbeds — spacious, elegant, and set right by the water with a stunning view of the sea.

The entire setup was luxurious yet relaxed, with high-quality loungers, clean towels, and ample shade — perfect for unwinding in style. The staff were exceptional: polite, attentive, and always on point. Service was fast and friendly, with no delays and a consistently positive attitude.

We ordered food and drinks directly from our spot, and everything was delivered promptly and beautifully presented. The Kaliva Salad was a highlight — fresh ingredients, flavorful dressing, and a perfect balance of textures. Cocktails were chilled and refreshing, ideal for a warm beach day.

What stood out most was the calm, curated atmosphere and the genuine care from the team. Everything felt seamless — like a 5-star beach experience that allowed us to truly relax and enjoy the moment.

We had made reservation for our bigger group and were divided into three tables. First of our group took one of the table and had to wait an hour for service. Last of our group were already eating when staff got around to ask if we were ready to order. We got wine we didn't order, one never got appetizer, another never got the main. One was told the dish was mushrooms even when asked about it and still served mussels. The service was a complete mess. And then they charged around 7€ extra per person, giving receipt that didn't match the credit card charge - and all in Greek, naturally, so good luck checking the bill.
