We visited Skotadis for lunch. The restaurant is located right by the port, along the main street. The setting isn’t particularly charming, but it’s central and easy to reach. Skotadis serves seafood, and at first, few things of the menu were not available and we ordered fairly standard options: beetroot salad, small fried fish, mussels, paired with ouzo. The taste was authentic but similar to what you can find in other good tavernas. However, there was a bit of a hiccup at the start. One staff member didn’t describe the menu and mention that there were additional, more creative dishes available, so we missed out when placing our order. Later, we noticed neighboring tables enjoying beautifully presented plates and ceviche, including fascinating bloody mary shots with shrimps. We asked about it, explained the situation and that we wanted to try more creative things, and the staff members acknowledged the oversight. To their credit, they handled it professionally and generously brought us a ceviche plate to try.The ceviche was fresh, vibrant, and much more exciting than our original choices—but unfortunately, by then we were already full. Overall the service was attentive and fast and the service recovery was commendable, and it left us curious to explore more of the creative options. I would like to visit again with a better idea of...
Read moreI read an article written by a greek journalist reviewing Aegina's best restaurants and seeing it was always full i thought it must be THE place. Couldn't be more wrong and regret for ever sitting there. I took half portion of grilled vegetables thinking that the steamed mussels i took as main course would fill me. The vegetables were nice actually but i was in total shock when i received the mussels. They were the most microscopic mussels i've ever seen in my entire life, the size of a nail almost, over cooked and in a watery, tasteless fluid that did not even remind of the ordinary steamed mussels' juices. That was paired with some thin noodles or whatever that thing was. A lemon was dropped inside the jar and made it all bitter as well. When i asked the waiter how they can serve miniscule mussels like these,he just answered in a nonchalant way:They are local and fresh. I am greek and raised on seafood basically. That garbage should not be served, nevertheless being charged 15 euro. They even charged 1.80 for a small bottle of water and 6 euro for a half portion of the vegetables(whole portion 9 euro) and i had to point it out. Horrible experience, worst use of 20 euro and leaving the place hungry. Total rip-off and overpriced scam .I do definitely not recommend, nor will i give...
Read moreOuzeri o Skotadis was hands down the best food experience we had in Aegina - it really took our holiday to the next level! We were lucky to be taken there by a local friend, and from the very first bite, we could see why it’s such a favourite. The menu offers a wide variety of local dishes rooted in tradition, but elevated with a modern, beautifully presented twist. Every dish bursts with flavour, using the best of local produce to create something that feels both authentic and refreshingly inventive. The ceviche was out of this world - so good we immediately ordered a second round! But honestly, everything we tried was just delicious. Giorgos and his team were the kindest hosts - warm, welcoming, and full of great recommendations. The setting couldn’t be better either: right on the harbour, with gorgeous sea views and the lively atmosphere of Aegina all around. We left smiling, full, and already dreaming about coming back. Don’t miss out...
