Palio Kantouni — Restaurant in Municipality of Agios Nikolaos

After many years of coming to Elounda we finally made it to Palio Kantoui and can only join the many others who sing it's praises, many times the locals have recommended it and I wish now I had listened to them earlier, the location is stunning with an epic view across the bay, the taverna is traditional cretan in appearance and had a very intimate feel to it, the family run ethos extends to a warm welcome, a level of customer care that can only be attained through dedication that larger establishments cannot hope to match, the food there is amongst the finest I have tried in Crete and I shall be returning there again to sample more of the delights that are on offer. Our most favorite spot in Eloundas! If you are thinking of going there, do it! After a small walk uphill you will find this gem with the perfect view. The service was super friendly, attentive and professional. The food was the best we had in Eloundas. We had tzatziki, Greek salad and the fried cheese as a starter and the mussels and fish as a main. If you are looking for a non touristy more local feel In Elounda then this is the place for you and worth the walk up the hill. Located above the western edge of the town with lovely views this homely small taverna has it all, great friendly service, delicious simple food and a delightful slide show depicting the history of the area.
