Friendly staff, good service, excellent food & honestly priced.

I would say, based on our experience, ignore the poor reviews and give this place a go if its in budget.

I think the idea here is contemporary Greek cuisine, which sets itself aside from all the other eaterys on offer.

It was quiet inside which I was dubious about but everything on the menu sounded super tasty so we had to give it a go.

We were quickly seated for a table of 2 by our gracious host who was very friendly and polite. To start we shared tetraology and bread, the taramasalata was our favourite (very fresh) but all the others were lovely too. Then for mains, the Aegean Tuna steak, which tasted divine and the beef stew, again, very very tasty. For pudding the baklava and lemon pie. The baklava was amazing and I've been assured the lemon pie was equally as good.

Kudos to the chef, all the staff and the owner, they are trying something new and different and it works!! 👏

We would definitely recommend this place and I wouldn't say it's a tourist trap, it's trying to do something different from the normal. For me to see a smaller menu usually means a higher quality of cookery and I wasn't wrong 😊

Try it and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!!

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was there were quite a few things off the menu that day and I really wanted the moussaka but other than that it was perfect..

Thanks again. One of the highlights of our holiday. Hope to see...

A truly incredible restaurant that made our 1 week trip to Elounda extremely special! The food is incredible! The combinations of local ingredients really make Magali stand out as an accomplished, fine dining experience, but at extremely reasonable prices. Every mouthful warranted an “mmm” sound, and there is not one dish that disappointed (on our multiple visits). One of the best meals we have EVER had!!!

The drinks are also fantastic, from the delicious local wines and beers, to the incredible cocktails. The cocktails are truly delicious, very creative, and a long way away from the other sugary cocktails you may get on holiday.

And the thing that tops it all, is the service. From start to finish, this was amazing. Never have I been made to feel more welcomed, more comfortable or more informed than when at Magali. The service really elevated the experience to give us a truly special memory, and a wonderful holiday!

If you don’t eat here, you are missing out on an experience of...

Disappointing Experience and Poor Handling of Serious Dietary Concern.

We were deeply disappointed with our experience at Magali. Despite informing the front-of-house staff that my wife is pregnant, she was served cold cod and mussels - an alarming oversight given the health risks involved. After raising our concerns, only part of her meal was re-made (leaving the rest cold), and it arrived so late that we couldn’t eat together. Throughout, staff actively avoided engaging with us, even walking past without acknowledgment.

To make matters worse, when we asked for the bill, there was no apology, and we were charged full price. I refused to pay for my wife’s meal due to the risk it posed and the mishandling of the situation. The waiter returned after arguing with the chef to inform us the cost had been taken from the chef’s pay - an astonishing and inappropriate resolution.

We understand mistakes happen, but the way this was handled left us upset and eager to leave....

In September, I stumbled across this beautiful restaurant in town and was sold on their tasting menu for my birthday treat! The restaurant is beautiful and the staff were so kind and attentive. I ordered the tasting menu which was €60, which was at an amazing price. They had kindly given me a welcome soup which was delicious. And they also kindly gave me an additional dish to try aswell with no extra charge. The food was fresh with local ingredients and was made beautifully. The gentleman who served me was knowledgeable and service was amazing. I just couldn’t fault anything. It was so good that I actually came back on my last day and I wanted the tasting menu again. The gentleman had recognised me and he was able to swap some dishes out so I could try other dishes they served and it was divine! Thank you to the Magali team for making this so memorable!

Absolutely insane! The best meal we have had in a long time, not just in Crete but anywhere!
and we are big foodies who love to hunt out an amazing restaurant. We could not fault the food, service or atmosphere. The caramelised aubergine was a particular highlight as was the cauliflower purĂ©e that came with the steak and the lemon meringue and fruit dessert. The staff were great at explaining the dishes and how best to experience the flavours. The price was really reasonable and if we had had this meal in London we would have expected to pay 3 times the price. Please don’t miss out on eating here whilst you are in Elounda. You won’t regret it. Especially if you are a foodie. We have enjoyed all the food in Crete but generally found it all quite similar. Magali stands out above everywhere else we have been. It is next level. X
