Hostile towards pets and pet owners
We had been visiting the establishment for many years, almost always with our dog. Φρειδερίκος (the owner) had always been polite and welcomed us with our dog. However, this year when we first visited, Φρειδερίκος was not there and we got a really rude behavior from the staff, that we've NEVER been allowed inside (which is an outright lie) but rather only on a table outside on the road, which is usually used as a waiting table and we've never sat there.
What makes it even more outrageous, is that the same people who were friendly the previous years (some of the staff are there for many years) were adamant that they've never allowed us in. The same people, who used to even give treats to our dog.
Of course, they went a step further to insinuate that we've been lying that we've been allowed inside (as if we enjoy going around in our vacation, causing problems and disturbances, instead of having a good time). They also demanded the medical booklet of the dog (which we had with us). After that didn't work, they said that it's the law that a dog must always wear a muzzle (which is not true, of course). When confronted to give me the relevant law or even bring the police to verify, if they wanted so, they just left the conversation. I don't know why this took so large proportions, it surely sounds weird. I just believe that they couldn't just accept the fact that they had been wrong in their initial assessment and they were just stubbornly trying to justify it afterwards.
In the end, of course, they wouldn't allow us to sit there. We've been visiting all kinds of places, always with our pet and we never had any problem, which makes it even sadder, coming from a place we've been welcomed so many years.
We will not be visiting this place anymore, there are plenty of good places to eat around the area.
So, pet...
Read moreThis place was a little bit fancier than where we'd normally go for lunch, but everyone agreed it was very nice, despite being a little more expensive. We paid about €15 each here, but keep in mind that we shared some dishes so didn't all have a main. (The portions were large enough that it was the perfect amount of food for us though)
We shared the staka butter pasta which was delicious, and like nothing else we have tried in Crete so far. The dolmades we had were also excellent, and we'd highly recommend both of these for vegetarians.
The bread was fresh, and served hot with some tomato dip on the side, which I enjoyed. The tzatziki was very good as well, with a nice balance of flavours.
At the end we had some raki and grapes, where the raki was one of the smoothest we've had, and the grapes complimented it well.
Overall would highly recommend coming here the food is excellent, the view is amazing and the service was very good too. Only issue was it was very hot, but that can't...
Read moreWe had a lovely experience at Plateia Myrthios, and it truly deserves five stars. The atmosphere is charming and peaceful, with absolutely stunning views overlooking the coastline – it’s a perfect spot to enjoy a relaxed meal. The service was exceptionally friendly and warm, making us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit.
The food was tasty and fresh. I had the pork chop, which was good, although I must admit I had an even better one the day before at a different place. Still, the overall experience here more than made up for it – the clean surroundings, the attention to detail, and the wonderful ambiance really stood out.
It’s the kind of place where you want to take your time, sip your drink, enjoy the scenery, and appreciate the hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Myrthios or nearby – it’s definitely worth...
