Taverna Panorama — Restaurant in Municipality of Agios Vasileios

5/2022: Great location high above Plakias with a truly panoramic view of the bay and the town below. Tastefully decorated and most importantly the taverna offers very tasty and high quality fresh food.

We had Greek salad (Choriatiki) which was excellent: Fresh tomatoes and cucumber slices, a generous chunk of delicious feta and great tasting olives in a big bowl. Enough to serve as a full meal. For dessert, we followed up with Sfakian pie which was excellent as well. Our friendly and attentive server was wearing a mask throughout, which was very much appreciated. When we requested the check, we were served a small carafe with Cretan raki and two big slices of yummy chocolate cake, all on the house.

A very pleasant and satisfying experience at this family-run restaurant. Highly recommend.

UPDATE 5/2024: Regrettably have to adjust my review down a bit. Our food (stuffed vegetables) was pretty much cold and not that tasty. The waiter - while very friendly and attentive - was doused in perfume, the smell of which competed with the food. Not a great thing...

Servers per se were still friendly and accomodating but the food was a bit of a disappointment this time...

My wife and I are frequent visitors of Crete and Panorama has always been our favourite restaurant for all those years. I personally left very good review after one of our previous visits. But the times change as well as quality of service. Today we were disappointed when young waitress went on and on about dishes she looked like she was interested to sell, then called me rude, when I asked her just to describe the dishes I asked about. To avoid the aggravation I ordered the meals including our favourite Panorama salad. The mood for the dinner was lost, the food tested like nothing, I could not look at the waitress and even asked my wife to ask for a bill. I haven’t left any tips, as I felt offended, and we left the restaurant looking away from stuff, but that was not the end of story. In couple of hours my wife developed some stomach pain (coincidence?), which grew from mild to moderate/strong. We had such a great time at Panorama Taverna last night! The food was absolutely delicious, and they managed to fit in our big group without any issues at all. What really stood out, was the staff — they were so kind, friendly, and attentive the whole evening.

There was a birthday in our group, and they went out of their way to make it special. They brought out this amazing apple pie and even sang happy birthday, which was such a lovely surprise. It really made the night.

I wish I remembered the name of the main lady (with the glasses) who looked after us — she was just so warm and thoughtful, and made us feel completely looked after from start to finish. They really made the evening super memorable.
