I followed a local’s advice and ended up at To Petrino, in Chora. From the first step, I knew I had landed somewhere real. The place is stone-walled, shaded by vines, and filled with laughter and the clinking of glasses. The owner’s mother still oversees the kitchen—her moussaka has earned local fame. I sat alone, and still felt like part of the family.
Located in a quiet alley of Chora, it opens into a shaded terrace with rustic charm, the kind that invites long, slow meals and friendly chats.
• Moussaka – Creamy and rich, with just the right amount of cinnamon. • Grilled octopus – Tender and smoky, served with lemon and love. • Fava – Smooth, earthy and served with capers. • Baklava – Sticky, crunchy and the perfect sweet goodbye.
Expect to spend around €35–40 for two, including starters, mains, wine and friendship.
