Akrogiali — Restaurant in Municipality of Anafi

We chose to dine at Akrogiali in Anafi’s harbor after hearing about their famous fish soup and fresh seafood offerings. Wanting to ensure the best experience, we went by the restaurant early in the morning to ask if we needed to pre-order and what kind of fish they’d have available that day.

They explained that the fishermen were expected to arrive in the afternoon and advised us to call back later to check what had come in. When we called back, we were told that they hadn’t received any fresh fish that day—but they did have a “fresh, alive and kicking lobster.” Based on that assurance, we decided to head over for a lobster spaghetti.

Unfortunately, when we arrived, we discovered that the lobster was not fresh at all—it was frozen.

The miscommunication (or possibly intentional misrepresentation) left us disappointed. What was supposed to be a special seafood dinner turned into a letdown. At a place known for its seafood, honesty about the freshness and availability of ingredients is the least you’d expect.

Nektaria and Popy are the perfect hosts in the most cycladic sense... We felt at home since the first moment. Unforgettable view from the balcony of the rooms and It has been so sweet to sleep with the sound of the waves just a few meters away. The sunset Is on the other side of the Island and this means that rooms do not get too warm during the afternoon. When we will be back in Anafi we will definetly stop again. Rooms are simple, clean and reasonably comfortable. Air conditioning is modern and perfectly efficient. Restaurant serves homemade and fresh food, even the bread and jam for breakfast. Δυστυχώς μείναμε πολύ δυσαρεστημένοι, σε αυτό το κατά τα άλλα ξακουστό μαγαζί.

Παρέα 8 ατόμων, είχαμε κάνει κράτηση και τραπεζιού αλλά και ψαρόσουπας (δηλ. έπρεπε κατά την κράτηση να αποφασίσεις τι θα φας), όπου μας πρότειναν να μην παραγγείλουμε τίποτε άλλο γιατί η ποσότητα ήταν υπεραρκετή και δεν ήθελαν να αλλοιωθεί η γεύση της σούπας. Ακολουθήσαμε την συμβουλή... αλλά το βασικό πρόβλημα ήταν ότι η σούπα που έφτασε στο τραπέζι είχε τόσο αλάτι που δεν μπορούσες να την φας. Το δε ψάρι που ήρθε ξεχωριστά, φρέσκο μεν αλλά εντελώς ανάλατο (μικρό το κακό). Η συνολική ποσότητα για 8 άτομα δεν ήταν ικανοποιητική (αλλά ας πούμε ότι και αυτό δεν είναι τόσο τραγικό). Κάναμε μια ευγενική παρατήρηση επί της ψαρόσουπας και η μαγείρισσα, δοκιμάζοντας την, είπε ότι: "από αλάτι μου φαίνεται καλή... λίγο τσιμπάει στο λεμόνι"!!! Δεν ήρθαν δε ποτέ να μαζέψουν το τραπέζι, ή να μας ρωτήσουν αν έχουμε τελειώσει ή θέλουμε κάτι άλλο. Αναγκάστηκε να πάμε εμείς μέσα, να πληρώσουμε (όπου δεν είχαν την ευγενή καλοσύνη να κεράσουν... ούτε πχ το νερό, ας πούμε για το "ατυχές γεγονός").

Κατανοώ ότι μπορεί μια μέρα να πάει κάτι στραβά στην (οποιαδήποτε) κουζίνα, αλλά η σωστή στάση και συμπεριφορά είναι αυτά που κάνουν την διαφορά και θα ισορροπήσουν "το λάθος".
