Taverna Souhlis — Restaurant in Municipality of Apokoronas

A cozy Kantina run by an old lady and her family right at the entrance of Lake Kournas. 0ur West Crete Tour bus company stopped there for a late lunch. Two buses full of people probably overwhelmed the owners, though one would expect such situations in such a touristy place. The result was about 60 ppl all ordering together. The wait staff and the kitchen was chaos. Food came in an hour's time. But once it started, the plates rolled quickly. Food was absolutely delicious. The Margherita Pizza was superb, so was the rolled wild vines stuffed with rice was awesome. Chicken Souvlaki was also excellent. Not very expensive either. A typical Greek Taverna. Other co-travellers were heavily praising some pie, which is not usually found in most tavernas apparently. And so too about mixed fresh salad. Saw many many plates of the salad being served. All in all a fantastic joint inspite of the delays!! The delayed lunch at 3.30PM and hunger resulted that I forgot to take the pics!! And I have never seen such a long queue to pay their bills...

We ordered 2 iced coffees and payed with card, but they said the payment wasn't made, because the payment device didn't print the check, but the device had ran out of paper, so of course it wouldn't print out the check because there was nothing to print it on, change the paper roll and reprint the last transaction! We knew we had payed, because we had received a notification on our mobile device from our bank app about the payment, we even checked the payment in our internet bank and showed it to them, though they wanted us to pay again anyways, I guess they didn't believe us. We didn't end up paying double, I guess they somehow checked that we had made the payment in the...

Zacznijmy od tego, że obsługa totalnie nas olała. Żadnego dzień dobry nic z tych rzeczy, po 10 minutach oczekiwania na kogokolwiek, aby podszedł do stolika, podeszłam do baru, gdzie Pan powiedział dosyć niemiło, że mam usiąść i czekać na swoją kolej. Następnie przyszła starsza pani do naszego stolika, obrus musieliśmy sobie sami rozłożyć, a następnie poszła gdzieś dalej. Wróciła po kolejnych 10 minutach i na słowa, że chcemy tylko jedna rzecz na dwie osoby, bo nie byliśmy aż tak bardzo głodni wielce się oburzyła i poszła. Toalety są na parterze i wołają o pomstę do nieba, ewentualnie chociaż posprzątanie. Po zakończonym posiłku czekaliśmy około 30 minut na rachunek, po który i tak byłam zmuszona ponownie podejść do baru, kiedy mówiłam do owej Pani po angielsku czy mogę zapłacić, zostałam totalnie zignorowana ponownie tego dnia. Podczas płatności okazało się, że doliczyli nam do rachunku jakieś śmieszne kwoty i pozycje, których nie zamawialiśmy. A na domiar złego coś mieli z terminalem, ponieważ cztery razy została odrzucona transakcja, z resztą nie tylko mi, ponieważ kolejne osoby miały ten sam problem. Pani nie rozumie co się do niej mówi po angielsku i odpowiada do klienta po grecku, nie przyznaje się do tego, że mają problemy ze sprzętem i jest bardzo niemiła. Jeśli kiedykolwiek wrócę na Kretę i ponownie będę w tej miejscowości na pewno będę omijać tą tawernę...
