Extremely disappointed!

Don’t usually leave a bad review but this was such a disappointment for a special occasion. Called ahead and reserved a table for my boyfriends 30th after researching good restaurants in the area while on holiday had asked if they could maybe bring out a dessert with a candle or happy birthday(usually no issues for a restaurant especially with Crete’s supposed hospitality)to which they agreed also said I would pay for the dessert. On arrival staff were very inattentive and looked like they could not be bothered working, the restaurants was pretty quiet so no real excuse for the terrible service we got especially on a Saturday night. Ordered mains pizza/pasta was average but nothing special then it took over half an hour to get a waiters attention no one even approach the table to ask if we would like another drink or dessert menu etc I had to go up and approach the waiter at the bar after trying to get his attention very respectfully might I add and asked if we could get dessert. the owner or manager seemed more concerned with sitting down at a table with his friends than attending to paying customers and when I approached he ushered me away. Dessert came with a half hearted love heart and a single candle which was basically just a lump of cream and not very nice and not worth the €12 I was charged for it most of it was wasted. Nothing about the restaurant is authentic Italian from food to service and really is a let down for the local area. Much preferred golden beach where at least the service was good. We reserved a table for 8:00 pm and arrived there on time. Got our table, which was pretty cramped up the two other tables, but that wasn’t much of a problem. Got the menu pretty fast but it took a long time before we could order drinks. Luckily by the time a waiter came we already selected the food so we could order everything together. Drinks also took a long time, followed by an even longer waiting time for the food. Both of us ordered the daily meal (2 out of the 3 options). The chicken filet was not one piece but cut into many small, dry pieces. We expected otherwise but fine, happens. Lookwise it wasn’t really appetizing. The greens were just placed at the side without any garnishing. It looked like a meal you get at a cafeteria.

The linguine with beef stripes was good, not much flavor but it was still good. When we payed we unfortunately didn’t get the fruit dessert everyone got when they payed. (Although we were nice the whole way and gave a too high tip for the service we received)

All in all, the food was okay-good but the service was not up to...

The food and service from the waiting staff was really good however the service from the manager and lady who took our order was disgraceful. Our children 6yr & 9yr ordered from a child's only menu, when the food arrived we queried as looked a big portion to be told by manager "don't worry you will be charged for childs". Bill arrived and charged for adults meals. The manager then said you will need to discuss with the lady who takes orders whose reply was "they ate a good amount of it so you will need to pay for adults meals". Manager then not interested in rectifying the problem and the lady happy to argue in a busy restaurant that she was not charging us for children's meals! Absolutely disgusted with their attitude.
