Ifalos was by far the best meal we enjoyed during our entire stay in Crete! What makes this taverna so special isn’t just the fantastic food, but the entire atmosphere: a lovingly run family business where the father goes out fishing himself, the mother cooks with real passion, and the children serve you with genuine warmth. As a starter, we had grilled zucchini and fresh bread with olive oil – simple, delicious, and the perfect beginning to the meal. We then had a grilled sea bream so fresh and perfectly prepared that it simply melted on the tongue. We also tried a very special dish Giouvetsi with tender beef and orzo pasta in a clay pot, baked under a layer of cheese: savory, succulent, and bursting with flavor. Simply heavenly! To top it all off, we enjoyed a slice of Greek orange cake moist, sweet, and wonderfully fragrant. A perfect finale to a perfect meal. Everything here is spot‑on: quality, hospitality, authenticity. It’s a place you won’t forget and absolutely must recommend. We will definitely be back!

When you’re in Greece, you have to eat at a taverna, it’s a must! Tavernas serve authentic, local dishes with great quality and you won’t spend a fortune. I honestly think Ifalos Taverna is one of the best spots in Crete. The service was perfect and the food was just amazing. We ordered dolmadakia (stuffed grape leaves), octopus, halloumi, fried calamari, pita with cheese and salmon, and shrimp kritharoto. Every single dish was somehow better than the last!🤤 A nice part of Cretan tradition is that in tavernas, you usually get a free dessert and/or rakhi as a thank you. At Ifalos, we got this simple, delicious orange pie and two shots of rakhi (my favorite!). Seriously, if you’ve never tried rakhi, make sure you do! Ifalos gets an 11/10 from me. It’s absolutely a must-visit and I highly recommend it! ☺️

First off , very friendly family owned restaurant, in particular the young waitress who looked after us very well. Now to the food .... my friends seafood linguine was the standout dish , the beef & rice with cheese was whilst cooked well lacking in flavour, the girls ordered the Grouper and tbh it was quite dry so food wise it was not quite as good as it could have been but I do appreciate it was very busy and the kitchen was working flat out. Prices were fair, location is great & as mentioned earlier lovely staff. The question is, would we return ? That's a yes as it was close to 5 🌟

Having dinner at Ifalos was one of the most unforgettable experiences of our trip.

What makes Ifalos extraordinary is not just the food (which is absolutely delicious every single time), but the beautiful family behind it. Elisabeth, her mom and dad, and her brother welcomed us with open arms and cared for us as if we were part of their own family.

The food itself feels like it’s made straight from the heart. Homemade, comforting, and full of authentic flavors that remind you of being at the table with loved ones. Every dish was not only exceptionally delicious, but also carried a warmth and soul that you don’t find just anywhere.

The attention to detail in everything from the presentation to the atmosphere made each dinner feel like a celebration. You can tell this is a place built on love, tradition, and pride in what they do.

Ifalos is more than just a restaurant, it’s an experience, and one that we’ll treasure. A huge thank you to Elisabeth and her wonderful family for making us feel so seen, so appreciated, and so cared for.

This is a new restaurant owned and run by family. It's the spot previously occupied by Jannis Golden Heart. It's had a complete rebuild and is now a very smart modern place. We received a warm welcome and the food was delicious and plentiful. The litre of house red was also good.We had a table facing out to the street and it's good for people watching. The small disappointment were that we noticed proper wine glasses were only given to those who ordered a bottle of wine, rather than local wine, and at the end of the meal, the usual courtesy of ensuring we had enjoyed our experience and then presenting the bill was missed. Instead I was asked to "tap my card" without being given a bill or told how much it was! A small oversight perhaps but a little impolite. Also, it was the only restaurant we visited in 2 weeks which did not serve a complimentary sweet or piece of fruit. Raki or ouzo was also...
