We are just home from a fantastic week in Stalis, Crete. Our accomodation in Papas Beach was basic but it was clean and location ideal. We were lucky and got one of four rooms that had a sea facing balcony. Though the balcony was more than tiny the view was sensational. (See Photo). Papa's Beach has no receptionist so when we arrived there was no welcome, instead a couple of pieces of paper stuck to the reception desk with our name and number written on it. When we got up to our allocated room the key was in the door and we were in a bit of a state of shock. Though it was 6am in the morning and we had been travelling all night we were happy to see that though the room was small and the kitchenette part of the studio was practically on the bed the room was clean so we were happy enough just to get some well needed sleep.||||On awakening we were happy to be met with the most amazing sea view. The pool was tiny but it led directly onto the fantastic beach and Papa who worked in the pool side bar and restaurant was friendly and accomodating. |||| Stalis itself was really really relaxing.. as we said before beach gorgeous, lots of restaurants to pick from (though Chinese just average - don't order the curry!!). Bars were cool - check out the beachcomber for a truely holiday, cocktail experience - the free popcorn was an extra bonus here!!!! plenty of Irish bars to pick from also but the best of the bunch had to be Slainte - hilarious nights here and it stays open until 5am..be expecting to take to the floor when you hear Snow Patrols "Lay Here" - we hadn;t a clue what was going on the first time this song came on but we didn't get caught out a second time. The staff in this bar are also very...
