Iraklis Tradional Tavern_Gouves — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

I only recently found out it was open to non guests so thought I better give it a try. First off I have to say Helen is a gem.. gives you a lovely welcome and gives realistic estimates if you have to wait for a table to come free. Also gives you the menu to peruse whilst at the bar so you can order pretty much as soon as you're seated. The food.. excellent, and the portion size of the main wasn't so huge that you're forcing it down so as not to waste it.. this meant I could have 3 delicious courses without feeling I was about to explode. Food was exceptional. We had starters, deep fried corgette & feta in filo pastry. The courfette was very plain. The feta was delicious with a sprinkling of candied orange on top. For mains, I had the lamb dish, which came with chips & salad (which were really yummy). There was not a lot lamb was my only gripe, but it was gorgeous! The waiter advised us to order bread to mop up the special wine sauce, but when it came there wasn't any! We also ordered bolognese which was huge. Not a great deal of meat, came with grated cheese. Wow ! Iraklis Tavern was simply outstanding !

We were a large group of 10. We did not pre book and they were able to accommodate us without issue on the terrace. Lovely staff (shout out to Helen 👏) that looked after us very well.

Quick and efficient service. Not long wait for the food to arrive. Love that you can see into the kitchen.
