Best Greek food you'll have in Gouves...a family run Taverna with great food and cocktails. We ate here every day, sometimes for lunch and sometimes for dinner.
The restaurant is located next to the Island Hotel (where we stayed) and is traditionally decorated and very clean.
The restaurant is owned and run by a family, son (Antonios) and his girlfriend wait the tables, dad makes the cocktails while the mom is cooking the fantastic food…you couldn’t get more traditional food than this (I should know as I’m Greek).
I couldn’t recommend one dish as all the dishes we had were excellent…but our favourite was the Calamari, it was fresh, simple and tasted exquisite just like all the dishes…nothing fancy just proper Greek food at very reasonable prices.
Their cocktails are also great, the dad knows what he’s doing and they are cheap too :-)
I highly recommend coming to this family run Taverna if you want proper traditional Greek food....with extremely friendly and efficient service.
Enjoy this...
Read moreHave eaten here three times in the last year. The first two visits were very good, however on the third visit I was very disappointed. The pork steak was very small very over cooked. It was Impossible to eat and was like dry cardboard. It came with only a very small side bowl of soggy oily chips. The waiter was preoccupied serving a large party at the next table and it took over twenty minutes to draw his attention to point out that my food was inedible. He then whisked the plate away without any words and left us to sit there, ignored for another twenty minutes. No apology, no explanation and no offer to put things right. Having failed to draw his attention again we’d had enough and left, having left enough money for what we had eaten and drank. It seems a table for two is not worth the effort when a large party is dining. They were served their main courses about the same time as our’s even though we arrived half an hour earlier. Won’t...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant following a friends positive recommendation but i can only review our experience. Maybe it was a bad or busy night for Medusa but it seemed that the focus of the staff was on their more regular clientele. Slow, distracted service, for example, we didn't get a cup of tea we ordered, we waited nearly an hour between starters and main course and we struggled to catch the attention of staff when needed. Certainly not the service other reviewers have talked of. The food was OK, some wonderful parts and some mediocre. This was the most expensive meal so far and the least impressive one too. As I use reviews to assist in my selection process when dining out I think it's fair to post when the experience isn't as good as anticipated. As there are some very positive reviews previously, this might just have been a bad night for them. I have been to many restaurants that I would return to, unfortunately this isn't...
