Kontra Flokos — Restaurant in Municipality of Chersonissos

Great moment in this restaurant. We didn’t know where to stop to having a dinner and we were delighted of what we got in our plates. The atmosphere is quite basic, but it is 100% authentic, nearly only Cretans around us. When you are searching for something not touristic, this is the right place for you. And last but not least, prices are more than honest ! The most expensive fresh fish meal was around 18€, which is not really expensive for that kind of dish ! Everything in our dinner was great, from the fried cod with garlic mashed to our mezzes made of tzatziki, grilled sardines and grilled vegetables. Local wine and alcohol on the menu, if you want to try the Cretan cuisine, it’s the right place for you. Moreover, so nice of them to gently give us a dessert and ice cream with some raki (local liquor) at the end of our dinner. I would recommend 100% and I’m going to try to come again during...

Flokkos is right by the sea with tables protected from the salt water and air via a glass and others that are not, so pay attention where you sit if it is windy. I went there twice, and both times the bread was exceptional with all the starters and salads while the more main dishes were a bit more mediocre, like the shrimp pasta. Service is limited and overworked unfortunately, meaning that when we came the second time we were taken our order last from 4 tables whilest arriving first, I do not think this was done intentionally, but it happened.

We were here, in Crete, for 7 days, and until now this is one of the best restaurants we ate at, for several reasons. First, it is a family business and you feel this from the beginning. Secondly, the service is very quick and the food is delicious. Finally, the landscape you see from each table is completely special. We took several plates to share and all were delicious. I would recommend the halloumi salad, grilled octopus, fried squid and grilled prawns. The complementary dessert was also good. They are closing on 22nd of October...
